Thanks to Amanpour & Co for this story about The Calling, which is streaming for free this month on the PBS app and PBS.org youtu.be/VsEtoLuDrqY

In this anti-DEI climate, it was nice to get this review for The Calling in today’s WSJ. Coming on PBS this Monday! www.wsj.com/arts-culture...

THE CALLING comes to PBS on 3/17 at 10 pm/9c. The film follows a year in the life of students at Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx as they learn what it takes to be doctors in one of America’s most underserved communities. Full trailer here: lnkd.in/evDBd3GG streams on pbs.org

Well... the State of the DisUnion will begin, shortly. I'm gonna be in attendance 😳😏. DO NOT WATCH!

'Eyes on the Prize' Update Debuted Tuesday bit.ly/4gThvMQ #journalismsNEWS #HBO #civilrightsmovement #EyesOnThePrizeIII @StreamOnMax @HBODocs

HBO is doing a pretty crummy job of promoting the fact that they’re steaming a new continuation of Eyes on the Prize. youtu.be/CyONOIrFMY0

Based on the number of people who responded to this with, "This is the first I'm hearing about this!" I'm just gonna keep reposting it.

“Eyes on the Prize III” executive producer #DawnPorter signals that Americans are in living in an era that is reminiscent of the injustices communities fought against during the Civil Rights Rights Movement. Read more: www.thewrap.com/dawn-porter-...

Check out Eyes on the Prize III this weekend

Check out the new Eyes on the Prize III: We Who Believe in Freedom (Episode 6: What Comes After Hope? 2008–2015), premiering this Thursday at 10 pm ET on @hbomax.bsky.social! #EyesOnthePrizeIII #HBO #StreamOnMax

The new, 6-episode Eyes on the Prize III series launched this week to critical acclaim. There are few better entry points for learning about Black history - and the role of social movements and ordinary people in the struggle - than the three installments of this series, which debuted in 1987.

I'm genuinely disheartened by the lack of reviews/coverage for "Eyes on the Prize III," which premieres on HBO tonight. Sigh. This is, I guess, a "me" problem. But nothing you could watch this week is better. Anyway... ICYMI, my review:

In 1987, Blackside's landmark series Eyes on the Prize revealed the untold history of the ordinary heroes of the Civil Rights Movement. Today, the third volume of the series illuminates the ongoing struggle for racial justice from 1977 to 2015. We who believe in freedom cannot rest.❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Almost 40 years ago, Eyes on the Prize set the standard for the cinematic exploration of the Black experience in America and the long struggle for civil rights. On Feb. 25, HBO returns with a new installment of the acclaimed documentary series. www.hbo.com/eyes-on-the-...

It’s here at last… Eyes on the Prize III. WE WHO BELIEVE IN FREEDOM CANNOT REST. ❤️‍🔥 deadline.com/video/eyes-o...

Caturday in the laundry hamper

When the rail cars bearing the entire Bellevue Nikkei farming community pulled out of Kirkland on May 20, 1942, their early crops were nearing harvest and the midsummer crops were in the ground. Almost none of them ever fed anyone. 1/34

incredible -- the NYT ran fluff "what i hope to see in 2025" blurbs from CEOs and economists, and then this guy www.nytimes.com/2025/01/02/o...

Leave it to the business reporters to understand exactly what is going on. Framed perfectly.

If any foreign governments want the USA and its people to survive they should immediately announce that if the US drops mandatory vaccinations it will be subjected to a travel ban and freight quarantine. Do not wait til after RFK is confirmed and starts the next pandemic.
