Life is shed right now

Wes is carefully measuring and drawing lines; I too am tearing my hair out (but we both have a nice view) #paintinginprogress #diy #offgrid

A little on the nose, but I feel you, tattered flag hanging on in the tail wind of a long haul trucker #murrica

I charge more for straight lines in commissioned paintings because of all the brain cells I lose while holding my breath 😂 fr tho - I can’t breathe when painting lines, and why am I suddenly lying down #ontheeasel #artist #sunset #artistsofbluesky

Sanders: We are not a poor country! There is no excuse on God’s earth for people to have to choose between food and the medicine they need to stay alive.

This morning I was reflecting on how anxious I can get when it's time to hitch up and move. So I sat down to write about that, and other lesser-advertised parts of so-called "van life". alliharveyart.com/blog/ Enjoy!! #airstream #fulltimerv #vanlife #artist

Read the full letter. ‘I am a political prisoner’: Mahmoud Khalil says he’s being targeted for political beliefs www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025... Then call your representatives in Congress. Need a script? It helps: 5calls.org/issue/mahmou... It just guts me, as a human, a Jew, & an American.

Yesterday: painting-in-progress & shed-in-progress. On the easel, to on the ground. At some point in my life I realized I was bored doing mostly one thing. Here we are. #offgrid #artist #arizona

Such an absurd thing with #running: I’m look forward to the long run ALL week. Then the day dawns, and the first mile, and I’m dreading all the work even as I push forward; doing the mind game of every mile in after that, and it’s sweaty, sore; HARD. And amazing. My brain explodes. Repeat 😂

This is very sad. Rep Grijalva was a good one.

This is such a delightful, petty but also human, NYC-specific story that momentarily distracted me entirely from The Horrors The Case of the Missing Elvis www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

And we’re off! It’s #sunset in this work-in-progress commission.

A great reminder that we should not be relying on the good will of the monied elite. A great reminder that we should tax them more instead.

First paint sesh of this commission! She tall (3 feet). I started with gesso to smooth the canvas so paint will layer on more easily, and then I mixed paint hues in tubs so they won’t dry out. For me the only goal of setting brush to canvas the first time is to block out basic shapes/color.

(1 of 2) When I was at Escalante Canyons Arts Festival last year, a fellow acrylic painter whose work I loved asked me what types of acrylics I used. I said, “Oh, whatever’s cheapest at Michael’s.” She looked AGHAST. Later, once she recovered, she rec’d I try better quality paints.

Early, early phases of training for my first ultra continued. Realizing that the mix of running and hiking demand more real food. I was happy but hungry at the end, didn’t want to drink calories. An awesome day. If you’re ever in Kingman, AZ absolutely check out this loop! #training #trailrunning

New #painting! Progress pics + reference photo for fun. This was one of the submitted pics for my January contest, and the gal who submitted decided to buy the completed painting! 10% of all proceeds from this and other contest related sales go to orgs aligned with my values: awe, dignity, doing.

New post on #backpacking, and the lengths I will apparently go to in order to experience the peace and stillness I crave. alliharveyart.com/2025/03/05/b...

We hauled a cobbled-together #watercolor kit into the backcountry, including torn out pieces of watercolor paper, little plastic cups for water, tubes of paint, and brushes. It’s been fun and freeing for me to play around with a new medium, and bonus that Wes is learning/enjoying it too.

Cottonwood-Marble route in #DeathValley National Park: 26 miles, 4K elevation gain, no established trail. We saw coyote melons, owls hunting at dusk, and many layers of ancient rocks. Water was great this time of year. We emerged, turned on the news, and did yelling. ‘Til next time… #backpacking

Back from three nights living out of a backpack in Death Valley National Park. I took a bunch of pics of our food. Some of the scenery too - I’ll share those later, maybe #takemeback #backpacking

Wes and I are going #backpacking. Ultra-light, of course. As usual.

I’m in the very early phases of training for my first ultra marathon, and have discovered this kiiind of amazing snack. Tamales in a bag?! With ingredients I can pronounce?! And TASTY. 🤯😍 Ultra runners, what’re your go-to snacks on the trail?! #running #ultrarunning #training #runners

Painting progress, Happy Friday! #beach #art #ontheeasel #artist

Just found this old pencil drawing I did of my dad giving me a dirty look. #timeless except for those wired headphones

No one ever told me to be an #artist is also to be a website designer/tech :) Revised my Alli Harvey Art homepage today to finally remove Meta (Insta + FB) links, and update with new art, upcoming events, and "About Me". Check it out, lmk what you think! alliharveyart.com

For the evening crowd, I tried to slay a few dragons with this one. (Oh and for you Alaskans - this pic was taken by my son of the Evert's boneyard in Fairbanks!)

BREAKING: Indigenous activist Leonard Peltier released from prison after nearly 50 years

Painting in progress! I chose this one because I’m excited to paint water. It’s soothing and meditative. It also going to nicely round out my heavily-Western U.S.-based suite of photos; a tie to the Atlantic where I grew up. Bonus: ‘lil gull in the foreground will come into focus. Stay tuned.

Love to see the doubling down on creative strategies that don’t rely on the Federal government, like these “#climate superfund” lawsuits against polluters at the state by state level.

What I love about a good tune in another language is I can take the heartfelt emotion and have it soundtrack my own life. Today I listened to this great Swedish song about driving to Kingman to take a shower, do laundry, and discard of garbage.

Fascinating profile of a park ranger in San Francisco who works with unhoused residents and has adopted the novel tactic of treating them like human beings, building relationships, and helping them access resources on their own timeline.

Finished! This is the first #painting based on a winning photo reference to inspire awe and meaning, especially when/where we most need it to ground ourselves. It features sand dunes in #DeathValley during sunrise on day one in ‘23. I’ll post it to my site tomorrow! #art #artist #artwork

But seriously: a podcast I respect - Vibe Check - encourages us to respond to “signals vs noise” to conserve and spend energy wisely. Noise is renaming, Nazi salute, banning words etc. Signals are ICE raids, freezing funds, gutting CDC, the list goes on. It’s all a terror, by design. But: focus!
