The young vote in Germany, by gender. 😳

Dear Manager, 1. I drank a whiskey drink. 2. I drank a vodka drink. 3. I drank a lager drink. 4. I drank a cider drink. 5. I sang the songs that remind me of the good times; I sang the songs that remind me of the better times.

#ThrowbackThursday This has aged as well lyrically as it has musically "Cyber warlords are aggravating abominations Arm a nation with hatred? We ain't with that We high-tech archaeologists searching for knick-knacks Composing musical stimpacks that impact the soul"

Lyrically simple but still quietly devastating in the way that nobody does better than Cat Power

If you need something wholesome, I suggest following Garden State Tortoise Sanctuary on youtube - they post a video once a week where they check in on various tortoises and turtles, including Rockalina, a tiny box turtle that has been rescued after literally decades of mistreatment

I love the sense of perspective in this

Back to lecturing tomorrow. The next 5 weeks are going to be very difficult. I'm hoping that being forced to leave the house and move around will speed up, rather than interrupt, recovery, but it's going to be tough. I've rejigged my topics to cover, to give me a more relaxed schedule.

Went for a walk with Malcolm. We made it to our local bus-stop, which is both the furthest I’ve done, and hopefully a step towards having the use of the bus system, which would open up the city again.

Henry Wuga was born 101 years ago today, in Nuremberg - he would live until not long after his 100th birthday, having been rescued, but also separated from his family, by the Kindertransport. His story is told in Chitra Ramaswamy's beautiful book 'Homelands', which I highly recommend.

I hope my final thought as I die is something beautiful but have a hunch it’s going to something inane like “maybe I should have gone to see Shen Yun”

A seriously lovely track - I had plans to open a mix with this, but I didn't get a chance to record it.

Vote to see which three new lines of poetry will be carved on the Parliament building to mark its 20th anniversary

Charlotte Newey and Stephanie Rennick on the epistemic harms involved in gender data gaps, available open-access:

A neat trick I've discovered recently is if you start consciously thinking about where to position your hands as you're trying to fall asleep, it's a complete and utter disaster

As someone who's also expensive and doesn't work very well I'm getting tired of you all picking on AI

I still regard this as one of the greatest records ever made. I love Shara Nelson's lyrics and delivery, but if I'm honest, my favourite part of the track is the final instrumental minute when the piano chimes in. Completely timeless.

If almost anyone else had made this, it would be the best song they'd ever recorded, but for Bjork it's not top-5 - maybe not even top-10

Same as last year, the new season finishes the same day I give my final lecture of the year. Cosmic coincidence.

Here's the shot in context (the youtube clip cuts just before the film gets mildly NSFW). I love the waterfall-effect of the canal lock gates, the pass over Amelie's head, then down into the path of the stones she's skimming, all while Yann Tiersen's score does its thing. It's just perfect.

Two Weeks In The Death Spiral Of Cardiff University, by an anonymous academic. This is truly shocking read. The Cardiff executive board should hang their heads in shame. voice.cymru/two-weeks-in...
