It’s time to say it plainly. America’s leadership has switched sides in the war. The American people have not, and they should speak up.

"The first revenue-generating passenger plane out, United Airlines Flight 1062, was scheduled to depart at 6 this morning." Denver International Airport, DIA at the time and now DEN, opened 30 years ago today, Feb. 28, at 6am local time. HBD, DIA! 🥳 www.denverpost.com/1995/02/28/d...

Imagine a time when people were concerned about the White House breaking laws

Regardless of how much coverage it gets, Trump aiming to install a military command that places loyalty to him above loyalty to the constitution needs to be a much bigger story.

“2025 is on pace for fewer fatal aviation accidents compared to the last several years, despite the I'll-just-drive vibes lately.” via @alexjamesfitz.com www.axios.com/2025/02/21/i...

Thank you Delta for setting the record straight. The rumours circulating on social media are awful.

Here's a script I wrote in case anyone wants to use in a call with their Republican US House rep/Senator. It's not much, they probably don't give a fuck, but it feels good to lay out logically how bad everything is getting to someone who works for Republicans. docs.google.com/document/d/1...

After that plane literally flipped upside down after smashing into the runway and 100% of people survived, I hope every person who ever said “what’s even the point of seatbelts on a plane” feels like a real doof.

Keeps getting worse and will continue to do so until the currently-feckless GOP led senate attempts anything to provide oversight to the current president who won less than 50% of the popular vote.

I'm writing about how fear (& I believe social media manipulators) are turning people against fact-based analysis of aviation accidents. I ended up finding the 2012 obit of the off-duty pilot who assisted with the miraculous Iowa landing of UA 232 in 1989. Please read it. www.npr.org/sections/the...

Yeah, it happened.

Hey @aviationintel.bsky.social, @franticgoat.bsky.social, @twz.com et al, am wondering when the admin actions being taken right now with significant underlying security impacts to the US gov't will become big enough of a national security risk/threat for you to start writing articles about on TWZ?

I understand the compulsion to frame aviation accidents this way right now but good grief, it is so not helpful to the cause of aviation safety.

I have a studied the aviation safety situation in Alaska for 30 years. If Bering Air has gone down it will have nothing to do with the Potomac midair & PA medevac crash. It is a very different situation In AK. Right now, we wait to know more. www.alaskasnewssource.com/2025/02/07/r...

Southwest’s THREE-PEAT (WN3) flight to New Orleans is airborne. One of sixteen nonstops between MCI and MSY today.

Move fast and break things is not the motto you want to adopt at a regulatory system that, as challenged as it may seem at times, is extremely functional.

In a disgraceful act betraying millions of their own residents, Iowa, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming all write to oppose birthright citizenship.

"This swirling cocktail of terrible means that it's entirely possible we could end up with bad legislation that has nothing to do with what actually happened" to #AA5342. Well put, @crankyflier.com. crankyflier.com/2025/02/03/t...

#OTD in 1959: “The Day the Music Died”. A chartered Bonanza [N3794N] crashes in Clear Lake (Iowa, US). All aboard die, notably singers Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper. Cause: loss of control, pilot was not qualified to fly in weather conditions at time of accident.

Ugh

The real story behind DC-collision jet pilot Jonathan Campos, a Brooklyn kid who soared to an American Dream of flight. His loved ones are pained by Trump's slurs about DEI in aviation A Puerto Rican pilot and the remarkable content of his character. My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/jona...

I promised some historical background relevant to the implication that "DEI" had played a role in Wednesday's tragic accident in DC. Since today is the 1st day of #BlackHistoryMonth, it's time to lay this out. So, herewith a 🧵 on just what it took to integrate commercial aviation in the 1st place.

What the actual F

Rep. Sam Graves (R-Mo.) who leads oversight of the FAA in the House told @politico.com that he does not believe DEI "had anything to do with this particular accident." #AA5342

Iowa Army Guard Blackhawks are up out of Boone tonight—Thursday night has historically been flight night, so not surprised to see them. Will be interesting to see how close they get to DSM given last night’s accident, but normal ops don’t pose a risk. Fwiw the pilots all wear NVGs.

Ex-Military Helicopter Pilots Explain The Challenges Of Flying Over The Capital We spoke with highly-experienced helicopter pilots who have operated over Washington, D.C., to get their thoughts on the tragic mid-air collision. Story: www.twz.com/air/ex-milit...

Everything about the NTSB press conference was what I hoped for from the board. They are handling this as they always do. I am cautiously optimistic that they will be able to control the anti-ATC narrative which is being pushed so hard by certain political officials.

1. Watch this closely: Lawmakers in Congress have long been pushing for more flights into DC's National Airport, even as air-safety advocates argued the airport was stressed to capacity. Kansas GOP Sen. Jerry Moran was a leading advocate for the non-stop Wichita-to-DC flight added in January 2024

Kinda perfect that people wrung their hands about not politicizing the DCA tragedy and Trump rolled out with "the gay dude who did DEI killed those people"

Well i might die in a plane crash but at least the salvage crew will be DEI-free
