I'd hope they're picking up Travon's option. He's turned into a useful piece imo, if not worthy of being a #1 pick.
Appreciate your work as always!

Apologies if you covered this elsewhere, but is there anything particular you're hoping to see from a team perspective during this week?

I wouldn't want to throw him into the fire as a week 1 starter, but easy to see him winning a locker room with a development first year and then taking over

And at this point, you kind of have to do that. No GM hired next week will be able to fully prep for the combine from a Jags perspective in a few days. But should've made a hire earlier.

I've felt this way since the start, but there's no chance this ends with Waugh anywhere but this organization. Either he'll be GM or someone will agree to keep him as #2.

One cool thing about hockey is that with so many Canadians, there ends up being a lot of huge guys nicknamed Moose

Democrats will need to come to terms with the fact that people in their 30s actually have lived through historical events. Many of us saw kids our age go to Iraq/Afghanistan and come back fucked up, because they were food for the Forever War Machine.

He's so much fun to watch. Obviously has his flaws that will prevent him from being a #1 pairing guy, but man it's nice having a guy who can haul ass back and break up a play

Man I feel you, I grew up on the Noles but ended up at UNC for college. I guess I'm Belichick-pilled now

Awesome! I just knew you as a good writer who also lives in the Jags torture chamber

Why not own a Katana, but a Northwestern banner??

And we're grinding our asses off to get those state executive positions. Sorry that locals trust state democrats far more than national ones??

Awesome story. Hope he's ready to take the next step!

Agreed. Team needed a full reset on culture, and it seems like it's actually happening.

We have a great system of colleges here, there's no excuse to not extend that down to primary schools and keep the talent in state.

I just wish there hadn't been an effort to undermine teachers. I know many that eventually embraced moving to other state, and had their pay drastically increased.

NO MORE GAZA if Harris was elected also, but at least we'd get a bunch of people wringing their hands and insisting they're powerless to stop it

Appreciate you engaging, this is interesting to hear. We're in trouble if the former exurbs/now suburbs like Holly Springs and Clayton can't even maintain public schools successfully.

12?? I'm a little curious to learn more, and am guessing you're either near RTP or maybe in Cary. Do you see this as a decade or so of high house prices in the area finally showing up in school data? Seems reasonable if so, I only ever viewed issues from the housing side while living there.

Appreciate you fighting within NC. We need everything we can get. Our public schools have flaws, and it's crazy to me that it's often the rural reps pushing for privatization

It would only matter if they lived in 1 of 3-4 states. For most of the country, you know who is winning your state every election, so why not vote 3rd party?

Why would people without power protest in the US now? The establishment Dem response to the Gaza protests last year seemed to go towards "crack their skulls and shut them up before they hurt Biden"

Best I've seen to confirm is this video, where you can hear a joking "you got my watch?" during the interaction.

I admittedly don't know scouting well, but he's looked the part of a NHL 4th liner. I can see why they chose him, and kept the kids like Nadeau in Chicago to have an un-disrupted first pro season.

Does dpp mean director of player & personnel? How different is that from a GM job?

Contracts are contracts and it's their faults for signing it, but feels like a death sentence for the teams that aspire to leave. It may be too late to pick up the pieces by 2030, let alone 2036

Love to see younger guys like this interviewed, I think it makes sense to go young coaching staff. Have to break the stagnant culture

Agree fully, I've read people sarcastically referencing "eggs" post election about 100x what it was discussed pre-election by conservatives.

To throw you one last curveball, he's talking the Houston Rockets (NBA), not the Rockies

I'd argue that's just capitalism at this point. It's very similar to how Amazon undercut many US industries to force small businesses to close (i.e. independent book stores)

Man I still lived out on the east side of Chapel Hill, and it almost felt like that while I was going like 35 around cars going 10-15 on I40 while the roads were clearly going to lose all traction in about 30 minutes. NC folks aren't used to seeing the roads freeze in real time at 1pm

A costly error that day 😂
Coincidentally, I was working on Alexander in 2014, probably a mile away from this picture. Made it to mostly home, but abandoned my car in a parking lot for 2 days less than a mile away.

The owner badly wanted to keep the GM against all logic. It took getting slapped in the face far too many times for him to get the message

I hate that this reminds me that they considered Hackett seriously. Shad has a type (member of 2016 coaching staff)
