The problem is that you never see the benefits of inaction in any tangible way, but you def see the costs. So its easy for opponents to point to human rights violations or militia support, and supporters can't exactly bring up the coffins of soldiers who never died

This is overthinking it. The value of FB/Insta is that your constituents see you. The value of Twitter is primarily that the 'right people' (journos, policy professionals, etc.) see you. Bluesky doesn't have the reach, and its power users still very much watch Twitter, so...whats the value add?

TL;DR: The more the US conducts policy in way that erodes confidence in its institutions, the more it takes on the shape of an emerging market, the more sovereign credit rating kind of start to matter. Crudely put, but I don’t think the complacency is fully warranted.
