Thx for this--I've had exactly the same response to these pieces: it's the new "voter in the diner" narrative & our responses to this have to center the impacted & marginalized. Why we constantly have to cater to the "redemption" (or "punishment" for that matter) of these folks is beyond me.

I have never seen a case as egregious as Darren Beattie’s. I’m stunned he’s not registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act. As an “acting” appointee, he is limited to 210 days, but the damage he has done in the State Department is priceless to Putin.

Exactly. None of what they are doing is legal and no amount of EO "memos" make the actual constitutional system of governing "illegal". Just astonishing that this is not being screamed from the rooftops at every turn and that there's any deference to it whatsoever.
