Movie you've watched more than 6 times, gifs only

This is the Gods telling us which side to choose in the revolution.

if you are struggling to maintain your sobriety in These Times I hope you see this and know I love you and I’m proud of you and I’m rooting for you. we don’t have to let them take anything more from us.

Every public service worker is hired out of absolute necessity. The labor force is the bare minimum to perform critical tasks, so yeah, this is about punishing people and destroying an independent bureaucracy. Real intent at reform would be tasked to GAO and IGs; firing them told us everything.

'Free speech absolutist' vying with his boss (or his useful fool, whichever you prefer) for most insecure man on Earth.

Dude really saw Frollo as a kid, and thought...damn, those hands are 🔥.

"This is not science fiction! This is happening! The oligarchs want AI proliferation because it's a boon for them and makes it easier to control you, the plebs." -Cassandra

Want to go visit the national parks this year? Sorry. The reservation system is shut down, EMT personnel are gone, so don't get hurt or lost. No one can clean the bathrooms or cabins, so they'll be closed. Rangers are fired. www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/arti...

When I first moved to Portland, there was a spate of ecoterrorism targeting obnoxious SUVs. I'm so glad we're bringing that back.

I've noted some of the procedural things Democrats could be doing in Congress, but this point from @edgeofsports.bsky.social's great piece in the Nation deserves emphasis. This is basic politics, and it's baffling that every Democrat isn't doing it every day. www.thenation.com/article/poli...

I will not join the glee in this person's suffering based on his veteran status or his *presumed* voting record, but I will ask why thousands of hard-working public servants whose lives have been ruined don't get the same attention as one "I only thought other people would suffer" individual.

“Be careful. When a democracy is sick, fascism comes to its bedside, but it is not to inquire about its health.” Albert Camus

In a serious world, this would be a five-alarm round-the-clock all-hands-on-deck news story, and Congress would be united behind impeachment, absolutely no question.

There’s gonna be a big opportunity to run on making the government functional again. Shorter lines at the DMV, no more chaos in the park system, more good jobs, etc

We have allowed an entire generation of entitled insecure man-children to redefine "masculine" (to speak loudly and carry a very little stick) and "feminine" (to serve and mother said man-children w/out thought or complaint). Neither of these definitions would be conceivable generations ago.

Useful streetcars. I think it has to start with re-establishing livability, no more 'catalyst developments'. Tons more housing around (but not necessarily on) neighborhood high streets, leading to increased commercial activity, to pay for a transportation revolution centered on bikes and transit.

"Slowly at first, then all at once."

Great thread. I rarely listen to anything newer than Gershwin, but I certainly enjoyed watching the halftime show. The symbolism, choreography, the music itself, all very enjoyable. I didn't know the lore. I had no idea about Serena and only a vague understanding of the Drake thing. It was fun!

Temperatures are expected to dip below 26 degrees for the next three nights.

Ok, the Harrison Ford Jeep commercial was really alright by me.

I think an American flag created entirely by black men at the Superbowl is one of the best pieces of art I've seen in my lifetime. I hope it actually killed some folks. And I hope it finally closes the fucking book on the argument that we shouldn't use the flag to fight the God damned fascists.

The commercials this year are like my apolitical boomer dad: everything will be ok; let's just pull together and go back to work. Everything is fine.

This moment continues to feel like February 2020 for fascism: smart people who pay attention are freaking out, your average sea cucumber-like American is either totally unaware or blithely assuming everything will Be Fine.

I absolutely cannot pick just one, so I just won't. The Count of Monte Cristo The Great Gatsby Les Miserables

A lot of this going around. And it just means people being housed in parking spaces and under trees. Maybe we should just build more housing?

Listen, Broligarchy is not some cute synonym for oligarchy. It's genuinely different & WAY more dangerous. I'm a sociologist who's been studying the ultra-rich globally for 17 yrs, entering their world as an offshore wealth mgr. Published 2 books abt them. 🧵Broligarchs are distinct in 3 ways:

Once everyone understands this about the ruling class we can all make better informed decisions about who we want to govern us. This is Trump and Elon’s playbook to a tee. Don’t let them fool you we are in a class war between the have yachts and the have nots. Which one are you?

Something that has genuinely helped me fight off the depression & malaise as a govt worker is reframing work in terms of quests, challenges, & adventures: The Saga of the Administrative Capped Costs The Adventure of the Interjurisdictional Relationship The Quest for the Lost Legal Guidance

ONE ADDITIONAL WORD INSERTED ANYWHERE PLEASE! White House [illegally] preparing [illegal] executive order to [illegally] abolish the department of education [illegally]

FYI google have now stopped "-ai" working at the end of your search string. So put this at the end (after a space) instead: &udm=14 Fuck you #google. #AI

Anyone emphasizing the need to "reach across the aisle" or "find common ground" right now is really saying "my privilege protects me from the danger you are facing", whether they know that or not. The inability to be self-aware by most people in power right now is so demoralizing to so many of us.

Libraries are good for you, and research agrees.
