I'm not an expert in the Federal Tort Claims Act. I'm not even a knowledgeable amateur. BUT, is Russell Vought's explicit intent to traumatize the public work force qualifies as intentional infliction of emotional distress under the FTCA? Cc: @afscme.bsky.social @704afge.bsky.social

Trump: "We had the largest gain in the stock market in history in every single category last week." (The market is down from where it was a month ago.)

I know you aren't going to want to hear this but the reason the system can deport Mahmoud Khalil and send Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador is that for years we've been executing factually innocent people like Marcellus Williams and sending legally innocent people to places like Riker's Island.

Law enforcement wearing masks, again, even as one of the Trump administration conditions for universities is that no-one can wear a mask that disrupts their surveillance.

it's perhaps worth noting that MAGA Republicans literally constructed this Supreme Court to carry out their agenda and still can't abide by its rulings

I’ve just posted this video message to members of the DC Bar, urging them to vote *AGAINST* AG Pam Bondi’s brother to be its next president. Please pass this on to anyone who is eligible to vote. www.instagram.com/reel/DIcQFxt...

Certainly worth repeating in the times we are in..

The great thing about fighting back against this stuff is that if you end up losing anyway you get the same outcome you’d have gotten from complying but you don’t have to fucking hate yourself too.

important context about the concentration camps in el salvador:

Yup. They'll send a legitimately awful US citizen to CECOT, and anyone who criticizes it will be accused of supporting the awful person... and then they'll send someone slightly less awful. Eventually, they'll have established that they can send anyone.

We are way past impeachment time

Bukele has already returned migrants to the U.S. because they were from Central America or they were women—migrants the Trump admin had unilaterally declared as “criminals.” This is all a joke to them. It’s truly sick.

The Trump administration wanted to control the most basic aspects of the university, including what is taught and who is hired. The wanted to turn Harvard into a fancy version of Trump University. And when Harvard said no, Trump used publicly funded research as a hostage.

Every college and university should do this to remind Americans that attacks on these institutions are actually attacks on all of us.

What we all just witnessed had all the earmarks of a criminal conspiracy to deprive Abrego-Garcia of his constitutional rights, as well as an impeachable offense. The fraud scheme was a phony agreement engineered by the US to have Bukele say he lacks power to return Abrego Garcia and he won't do it.

Harvard University statement: “The university will not surrender its independence or relinquish its constitutional rights. Neither Harvard nor any other private university can allow itself to be taken over by the federal government.”

Harvard understands, as Columbia does not, that it cannot survive in a country where higher ed and research is openly controlled by the government in power. In other words, Harvard is wholly a creature of liberalism and it dies in a fascist state.

Bravo, @harvard.edu. Way to lead. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/14/u...

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

Not Antisemitism (according to MAGA): - Firebombing a Jewish governor‘s house during Passover - Doing a Sieg Hitler salute - Eating dinner with neo-Nazis Antisemitism (according to MAGA): - Saying Israelis and Palestinians deserve rights and dignity - Using freedom of speech on campus

Chasten and I are relieved that Governor Shapiro and his family are safe. While we wait to learn more, this much is clear: the targeting of a public official and his family - especially a prominent Jewish official on a major Jewish holiday - is unconscionable and has no place in our country.

This isn't going to end until the judges start holding lawyers and DOJ officials in contempt and throwing them in jail. Even that might not end it, but there's no point trying to delay the inevitable. They're just getting bolder and more destructive as they go.

THREAD: The Trump administration's DOJ has removed a study from the NIJ website that found that immigrants, and particularly undocumented immigrants, commit crimes at significantly lower rates than U.S. citizens. The study is at odds with the Trump regime's propaganda about immigrants & crime. (1)

Can we stop calling these atrocities "deportations." These people sold to El Salvadorian prisons were not deported. Deportation is a process that did not take place. They were rounded up and removed with no process. They were kidnapped, not deported.

I had a Psyops joke, but nobody changed.

Weird. The one guy whose rights Trump respects runs a foreign torture camp AS THE FOUNDERS INTENDED (to rebel against).

One thing I think doesn’t get said enough because it sounds like caping for politicians is these people have been traumatized by Trump. He sent mobs to kill them, got away with it, and has way more consolidated power now. Why we need a new generation of leaders from all ages and walks of life.

"Flood the zone" is aimed exactly at this capacity.

Trump‬⁩ has trashed a century of trust & confidence in the US economy. The bedrock has been stability, predictability, rule of law. This imbecile wrecked it in months. Things will get worse because ⁦‪Republicans‬⁩ have no guts to challenge stupid. www.cnbc.com/2025/04/12/i...

Imagine the TDS accusations against anyone who might have predicted something like this 6 months ago.

i have argued before that MAGA is recapitulating antebellum pro-slavery ideas about citizenship and bodily autonomy. one thing i am also thinking about, when it comes to the rendition of people to a foreign gulag, is the way it is reminiscent of the kidnapping of free blacks for sale into slavery

I'm not saying journalists should never interview admitted propagandists. There are journalistic reasons to do so. But if we do, we must be prepared to -- in fact it is our duty to -- challenge vociferously all unsubstantiated claims. Otherwise, we ourselves become propagandists.

Just an obvious point that anyone with the inside word on when these these total reversals are going to be announced is in a position to make almost limitless amounts of money. Don't forget that given the kind of people who make up this administration.

Members of Congress should never be allowed to trade stocks. Period.

Who knew about the President's tariff policy change before the public, and did they use that information to trade on the stock market? It is corrupt to profit off insider info you learn in office.
