Matt Yglesias claims he doesn't like Bluesky because people here yell at him. But people yell at him everywhere. That's literally his whole thing! What IS new is that Bluesky doesn't algorithmically PREFER Matt Yglesias. That's why he's mad. www.theverge.com/2023/3/28/23...

They remade the entire internet in the image of fascism and people STILL overwhelmingly hate this shit and the people pushing it

Need people to understand we can't win if we don't see with clear eyes what this country is and how power works. Don't entertain conversations about what Republicans might do if you "overreach" by packing courts or protecting rights. wtf are they doing now if not overreaching? No more Sorkining.

everything else is just stuff like "I have money therefore God loves me and I'm already on the rapture list" or "you have to forgive me and us, but not *them*" and only vaguely hints at the notion of spirituality. But that big fuckin pile of bodies, they're willing to put the work in for that

Yet despite the fact that there is no evidence of a cover-up here — the researcher admits to her findings and merely says publication is delayed — it has become an article of faith on the right that WPATH is engaged in a campaign to suppress the "truth" that gender-affirming care doesn't work.

Nor is this finding particularly damning to the field of gender-affirming care for kids. A lot of studies have found that kids on puberty blockers don't see big improvements in body dysphoria or mental health. It makes sense: Nothing has changed!

Another hallmark of conspiracy theorists is obsession with transparency and cover-ups over actual evidence. In this case the study at hand finds that kids on puberty blockers weren't doing significantly better after two years. The researcher freely admits to her finding! There's no cover-up here.

We've seen this from anti-vaxxers and other conspiracy movements for years: Act like frothing-at-the-mouth psychos and then accuse scientists of conspiracy for behaving like they're being targeted by frothing-at-the-mouth psychos.

The entire article is built around this "incriminating" quote, a researcher explicitly stating that her work should be accurate and clear before publishing. The headline implies that she is holding back her data because her findings are politically incorrect. www.nytimes.com/2024/10/23/s...
