You know, since the election, I’ve spent a lot of time questioning whether the US should even stay together. Like, if we truly disagree on so much, why not let individual states leave? Let the former red states learn to pay for their own stuff, and the former blue states have universal healthcare.

X-Men 2 wasn’t all that great, but one scene sticks out to me right now. When Nightcrawler meets Mystique, he is immediately entranced by her and her ability to hide, something he’d wanted. He asks her why she doesn’t hide all the time, to which she replies ‘Because we shouldn’t have to.’

The world is literally on fire. Whole neighborhoods were wiped off the map by hurricanes. Children are massacred in schools. Most people can’t afford groceries or housing. Healthcare is unaffordable. But yes, let’s allow bigots to argue that schools can’t teach about LGBT+ topics.
