If you have a device that CAN run Apple Intelligence you need to turn this off as well as the general Apple Intelligence setting. Settings > Screen Time > scroll down to Content and Privacy > turn on Restrictions > Intelligence and Siri > turn off the first three options

Browsing through an 1892 Boston Type Foundry specimen book that I am rebinding for a friend. Now that the pages are held together, I can take a look at all the cool typefaces. I love the slanted one, but it would be so impractical to use. #letterpress

The day I found out much of pickleball was backed by private equity, its artificially inflated popularity started to make a lot more sense. I guess somebody figured out they could gut universities and push more pickleball at the same time. Despicable.

I had barely showed this image to my husband when he immediately says “oh is that from CPC Attack?”

I got to talk to Lee Dean for Publishers Weekly about their extremely good graphic novel THE GIRL WHO FLEW AWAY, which you should read. www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...

It is still so wild to me that the NIH cuts got announced on a Friday, we get a “don’t worry, we are on it” email from leadership, then I’m out of a job on Monday. I guess they really were on it…

Suddenly have a hankering for Geritol…

Deeply relatable. When I first learned to crochet, I was just making all these boring swatches of stitches and admiring them, and my friend was like "You know, I learn a lot from actually making something." 😂 Still glad for that!

Yes! Don’t do what I did, which is be really precious about everything, collecting art/design skills for 20 years like they were Pokémon before I was “ready” to make a comic, cause as soon as I made one I was like “I just learned way more by finishing it than I did amassing all my little skills.”

When people push AI shit, this is how they sound, almost exactly “People say it’s garbage, but it is amazing… Okay, to be clear, it *is* garbage and I have to fix a ton of errors, but I just *really* want it to be good, so shouldn’t that be what counts?”

5 bullets? - Asked if it is worth it - Hypothesized towards working it - Put my thang down - Flipped it - Reversed it youtu.be/cjIvu7e6Wq8

I think it’s not helpful to repeat claims that the administration is working on eliminating “DEIA” as though it’s some kind of corporate strategy; just say explicitly that they’re trying to eliminate diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, and explain how.

I’m looking for jobs and half of them, who even knows if they’ll still have funding at this point. I found a couple things that I would be a great fit for, but the very real possibility that they won’t actually be able to hire for the role keeps crossing for my mind.

"Sharper Than a Needle, the world’s premier 'textile machine orchestra,' will perform on Sunday at Munich’s Kammerspiele theatre, just an hour after polling stations close for Germany’s snap election." Needle drop! The world’s first sewing machine orchestra takes Munich:

Kudos to this week's episode of The Pitt for teaching me about the Freedom House Ambulance Service. What an incredible history and impact. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom...

Have been informed that Christian Riese Lassen's c. 2000 flash website is still up and fully functional on the Wayback Machine: web.archive.org/web/20030210... my memories of this page have felt like a fever dream for the past 25 years, thrilled to see it's been preserved in perfect condition 🙏🏼🐬

One of my favorite tricks as a designer - if it works it nature, it will work as a palette, so look to birds, flowers, fishes… and of course, butterflies are an especially great source of inspiration, and this display looks beautiful!

Welp. Time's up. If you're ever unfortunate enough to be stuck in traffic under there, and you've ever earnestly read an article about infrastructure, you'd be nervous as hell if you look up. That's actually why I join the Pike in Newton, personally

Dear Vancouver: It’s our turn!! If you have time, please fill out a quake report! www.earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/dyfi-lavr/fo...

Last night, I stumbled onto this reference website that I'd never heard of before, and am blown away by its quality. Highly, highly recommended. www.dimensions.com

Oof. “Just a few errors” “its heart was in the right place” WHY are we doing this? “This thing doesn’t even work, but I’m being told it’s neat, so…”

It's pretty cool that Eater put together resources for restaurants about how to handle ICE raids

It was supposed to be here between 9-12 and now it’s just “before 5” 😭😭 I hate this, I cannot do anything until it’s here.

I did the art for a comic in this menopause anthology! 💖🥰

A thing we (general academics) talk less about is when you shouldn't talk to a reporter. When you get signals that they will twist your words or the framing of the piece has already been set and it's factually inaccurate. Every time this has happened to me, I use my whisper network and I'm right.

Some of the cults literally took off because they happened to have someone who knew Wordpress among their early members.

I was feeling a way and made a t-shirt about it. You can get it (or stickers, or whatever) here, if you have similar feelings: www.teepublic.com/user/libertine (there’s also an edition with white text for printing on dark shirts)

Y’all might want to point out to friends, family, acquaintances, communities that people who have aspirations that their children attend college/university, esp in STEM, will not have colleges & unis for them to attend if this assault on funding the scientific enterprise persists.

Waiting for a delivery I need to sign for so naturally I cannot do anything all day until that’s all set, both because I won’t be able to focus but also cause I know I’m gonna have to sprint to catch it before they just leave the note.
