Science fiction was constantly thinking, "My god! What happens when the AI gets smarter than us?! It could force us to give it control and take over!" The reality, apparently, is that we'll happily enslave ourselves to an idiot babbling engine.

The bipartisan belief that America would be a better place if *other people* worked in a factory. www.ft.com/content/8459...

Video game prices resisted inflation for decades, despite drastic increases in production time and costs, because the audience for the games was growing exponentially. When the market became saturated, DLC and microtransactions created stealth price increases.

Republicans are seriously people who watch ANNIE and think that Annie is the villain.

@alexandrian.bsky.social 's article on bastions was really informative to how I want to do downtime in the future. thealexandrian.net/wordpress/52... #ttrpg

hey. a very unfortunate and upsetting thing happened to me this week, and talking about it publicly comes at a great personal cost so if you could take the time to read it, it would mean a lot tldr: wotc pulled the ad i made on all platforms due to the comments said ad received

This is literally how the Holocaust started, and honestly I'm tired of saying so

Biggest commitment to a 3 second joke I've ever seen

I'm really confused on WotC releasing a new set of core rulebooks for D&D and then IMMEDIATELY changing the D&D trade dress so that none of the supplements would match the core rulebooks. How did this happen?

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die. Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

The billionaires are suddenly tired of winning. Bill Ackman: "This is not what we voted for!" thehill.com/homenews/adm...

Thread: You don’t think you, a citizen, can be caught up in the admin’s grabbing of people? They don’t care about mistakenly taking a legal immigrant or returning them. No? Not you? Even in error? Here’s a “fun” story that happened to me recently. A former federal law enforcement officer.

1. Wash your hands for 30 seconds after going to bathroom & before eating. 2. If you're sick, stay home. 3. If you're sick and can't stay home or have been exposed to a serious disease (including flu and COVID), wear a mask. You'll be healthier. Everyone around you will be healthier. Yay!

Must read thread. One of the problems is that people have completely delusional ideas of what "just make it in America!" means. The other problem is that these incompetent delusionals include the US President and everyone in his administration.

Just going to re-link my blog post on the Atlas Games site about last month's tariff-go-round. It all seemed bad enough at the time... atlas-games.com/news/post?s=...

Steve Jackson Games posted this to their blog and the post is getting so many hits their site is effectively crashed but the point is worth repeating

I have tariffed the penguins that are on Heard Island and which you were probably assuming did not export goods forgive me they were taking advantage of us so cunning and so cold

Trump Tariffs. Republican Recession.

Again, if you've got a Republican representing you in Congress -- and I don't care who it is -- call them to complain about the tariffs. They're panicking.

My daughter, learning to read, just declared that "https" should be pronounced "hit ups". Which sounded like nonsense, until I realized it meant that we were hitting up websites. So that's canon now. bsky.app is how you tell your browser to "hit up Bluesky".

Isikyus over on the Alexandrian just floated the idea of Baldur's Gate nobility flaunting the law about "no animals larger than a peacock" by using magically enlarged peacocks to pull their carriages. Which is absolutely BRILLIANT.

Some good news to lighten the day. spectrum.ieee.org/pacemaker

All, this is an incredibly important story paper for American women writers, and NIU holds almost 1,000 issues. Every $1K they raise will allow them to digitize 75 issues! The fundraiser ends at 11:59 CST on April 3rd. Please help if you can, even just the cost of a coffee! #C19AmLit

Loosening your grip on the campaign, empowering the PCs, and actively playing the game world can be a lot easier for the GM than forcing a single-threaded chain of events. Partly because you don’t need to force it. Mostly because you’re no longer solely responsible for everything that happens.

A message to our followers.

@governorwalz.mn.gov bends the knee. I need just ONE Democrat who can go a week without saying, "I think Trump has some great ideas." Claiming that you need to copy-paste Trump's policies because he might require you to do so in the future is some insane double think. Grow a spine. Please.

The Last of Us was one of those stunningly brilliant games with an ending so bad I exited the franchise forever.
