People who claim Zelensky was at fault yesterday and should have been more “diplomatic” or “respectful” are either deliberately propagating the Trumpist attack line – or they fundamentally misunderstand what the Trumpist project is and who is now in power in the United States.

Caucus with the Democrats or it’s all just talk

Starmer to Zelenskyy: You are very very welcome here in Downing Street. As you heard from the cheers outside, you have full backing across the United Kingdom.

Fox News reported that JD Vance had to move to an “undisclosed location” due to protests at the Vermont resort where he’s skiing this weekend. For inflicting misery on the world and here at home in America, this is exactly the energy that should greet Vance wherever he goes for the rest of his days.

One reason self-imagined lefties are nuts to attack Ryleigh Cooper is bc that's what Russ Vought wants. Another is that her story, told locally, is the quickest way to educate people what government really is. www.emptywheel.net/2025/02/28/r...

He’s so close

I don’t even know how this could be presented as being in service of anything other than hindering scientific progress.

And to think we could have had a sane, serious government run by an intelligent person who would have acted in the best interests of Americans, and not Vladimir Putin.

Any psychologist or psychiatrist (or former abused spouse) will tell you that President Zelensky gave a master class today on how to deal with a malignant narcissist. He is an amazing man. We can all learn from him.

I’m sorry, but repeating this framing without skepticism is collaborating with your source to mislead your readers. They have been working on humiliating Zelensky and catering to Putin since long before the inauguration. Nothing about this is a response; it’s the plan of an abuser and a charlatan.

I remember when Republicans fearmongered about death panels. every accusation is an admission.

Arizona AG Kris Mayes, New Mexico AG Raul Torrez, and Oregon AG Dan Rayfield will begin holding Community Impact Hearings — a national series of townhalls "to hear from the public about the impact of federal firings and DOGE funding freezes across the country." The first will be in Phoenix March 5.

House Rs just passed the budget resolution, the first step in their process to enact a bill that'd kick millions off Medicaid & cut SNAP down to just $1.60 per person per meal on avg while cutting taxes for the top 0.1% by $278k - all while increasing the debt 🧵on what's to come and WHERE TO FIGHT

If I were a Democrat, and I saw Trump do a purge of high-level generals who were women and people of color and wouldn't be "yes men," I wouldn't vote to advance JD Vance's college friend for Secretary of the Army. And yet....16 Democrats just did so

NEW: Google used to warn you when you were seeing low-quality search results. Then, in the weeks leading up to the 2024 election, the company quietly turned that warning off www.platformer.news/google-data-...

Melissa Harris-Perry. Tiffany Cross. Alex Wagner. Joy Reid. I'm sure there's a pattern here but I can't quite put my finger on what it could be. (/s)

Internalize that the United States as we understood it on January 19, 2025 is gone. We are in the midst of rewriting the rules and reconstructing society *right now* and must adjust accordingly. There is no going back, so we must imagine and think forward

(1/X) I've done some posts about the narcissistic sociopath I work with and how dealing with him has influenced how I see Trump. Now I'd like to do something about how it has influenced how i see the people who enable Trump. It's what I call the "shitty people problem"....

i think this is basically what has happened a big chunk of the american pundit class

One of my best friends is from a sleepy, wealthy small town in the south-west of Germany. He said, so many of my parents’ neighbours are rich and bored, with little to complain about, and they’ve radicalised themselves at dinner parties and online. In their aimlessness, they’ve bonded over hate.

Musk called DOGE “maximally transparent,” but it has refused to release info about its spending and operations — including the names of its employees. ProPublica has identified 46 of them, including 12 new names we've just added.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

This is such a savvy move by Judge Ho. It’s not just that Clement has impeccable (conservative) credentials; he was the Solicitor General from 2004–08, and even Acting AG briefly, so he can participate with quite a bit of perspective as to the proper role of the Department of Justice.

Okay, so I’m finally putting a thread together: what is the deep-blue Delaware legislature proposing to do and why is it the most evil thing not directly involving Donald Trump happening in America today? legis.delaware.gov/BillDetail/1...

The DOGE firings have nothing to do with “efficiency” or “cutting waste.” They’re a direct push to weaken federal agencies perceived as liberal. This was evident from the start, and now the data confirms it: targeted agencies overwhelmingly those seen as more left-leaning. 🧵⬇️

Tyranny requires your fear, your silence, and your compliance. Democracy requires your courage.

Kamala was right. And it only took him less than 30 days to roll over for Putin.

I suspect this is bloviation by Trump & Co. on what the order actually does. Without having seen it yet I suspect it deals with administrative agencies and their ability to interpret what they think laws mean and is not (yet) a flat rejection of court power to interpret law.

JD Vance owns AcreTrader, an app that lets wealthy—often foreign—investors buy up U.S. farmland. Guess who’s deliberately tanking farm economies so JD and his billionaire tech buddies can scoop it up for pennies. civileats.com/2024/09/18/j...

"Native-born Americans consume, on an average per capita basis, more welfare and entitlement benefits than all immigrants, and this pattern has held for several years across data from multiple datasets analyzed with different methods" www.cato.org/briefing-pap...

Sure, since you asked so nicely! 1. McConnell and the Senate GOP kept Judd Gregg from joining Obama’s Cabinet and blocked Tom Daschle — a powerful senator! — from being Obama’s HHS pick.

Big, growing crowd just west of the U.S. Capitol protesting Trump, Musk and DOGE on President’s Day. “Hey Congress, grow a spine,” they shout, gathering for a rally around the reflecting pool.

This cartoon by @mluckovich.bsky.social is getting banned on Twitter. Because of course it is.

worth saying again these these unilateral cuts are illegal. neither trump nor musk has the authority to unilaterally slash appropriated funds.

What Trump has done for US farmers so far: -frozen their foreign aid program (and left their food to rot) -encouraged EU to ban their products -frozen legally-owed reimbursements for their energy efficiency upgrades etc. -threatened to deport half their workforce -suppressed research on bird flu

Too many people on here seem to believe there are exactly two kinds of Americans: ardent politically-obsessed Bluesky users, and frothing MAGA cultists. There are a LOT of people in this country who *just don’t pay a lot of attention one way or another*. And we absolutely can reach them.

Staggering sales drops, swastika-daubed EVs, companies culling fleet models, and fan-forum owners selling their cars—Elon Musk's alt-right antics are seriously impacting his electric car business.
