Focus on data; direct payments; procurement to ask.. are there real issues holding back personalised reform, beyond culture & leadership? If so, can we collectively do something about it? With @adass.bsky.social #DHSC @scie.org.uk #LGA #CQC @alexfoxshared.bsky.social @commcats.bsky.social ++

Inequalities will be a key theme. Isaac Samuels asks how the 10 Year Health Plan will hear from people who are excluded and those who have been harmed by the NHS, especially in mental health. @sallywarren.bsky.social asks Isaac and people with lived experience to participate and ‘keep us honest’

In 10 Year Health Plan session, @sallywarren.bsky.social says Health ministers are hugely ambitious about children’s health. Lots of cross government thinking on this. #ncasc24

Signals from DHSC that the expectation of councils and the NHS that they talk to and work with each other should be more firmly encouraged/enforced.

Absolutely! I’ve not experienced a smooth transition in over two decades—it’s always last minute and lacks proper planning. Pathway plans are so woolly and don’t provide the clarity or support that’s needed & needs reviewing. Also the constant change of PAs and social workers has such a huge impact.

@jamesbullion.bsky.social says some councillors in assurance meetings don’t demonstrate in-depth knowledge of their role - councillors should be well briefed and should be playing a key role in assurance

Kinnock commits to inclusion on the National Care Service consultation when it happens. Coproduction has to be a fundamental principle of what we do. Been moved by roundtables with experts by experience.

Kate Sibthrop asks for - and gets - Minister’s promise that he won’t sign off on any changes that are not coproduced with people. The Minister References Lansley reforms as eg of top down reforms that don’t work.

We know the need for symbiosis between health and care. Urges audience to take part in the NHS ten year plan consultation.

Big focus on care workforce but also “we must listen to the voices of people who draw on support” We need smooth transitions from children to adult support with no cliff edges- will be meeting children’s counterpart to discuss this.

Gov needs to fund the Fair Pay agreement so that it is sustainable for social care providers. We are starting to realise that social care is an economic contributor not a net drain.

Government Housing plans should include accessible housing. HousingTaskforce does set out plans for older people’s housing.

There are opportunities in new tech. The biggest opportunity for adult social care is to speak with one voice in partnerships which span commissioners, providers and people who draw on support

Directors are concerned about having regulation which reflects local variation but drives improvement. Government is silent on Social care reform but the plan for neighbourhood health are an opportunity.
