It's sickening, Jennine. As a Baby Boomer, I apologize for my generation's abject failure to learn from history. I am so very sorry.

How do I feel? Er... fairly sickened at the spectre of the upcoming years. I've already had kidney AND breast cancer and I'm ridiculously fit and healthy. Can't help but wonder when I'll start asking why the hell I didn't just let myself die from all that. :: sigh ::

Well, my fingers are crossed for you! My friend had applied at her dream school in her dream degree program and was turned down. They accepted 15% of applicants at that time. Someone had given that advice to her - I thought it was nuts but it worked! She graduated with honors. 💗

Oi. Rough days for social justice... and it is depressing and anxiety-provoking to know that I cannot possibly live to see us recover from the cult of MAGA. I'm 70 and a survivor of two primary cancers. I may not even see the start of it. :: sigh ::

YES! YES! Depending on the school, apply for any related graduate program. Take some courses that are in the PhD program you want to be in - be your razzle-dazzle SPECTACULAR self - & get recommendations from those instructors. Re-apply the next year. My friend did that... of course, decades ago...

I want to reincarnate as one of your cats.

That neuroscience education/training just gives you that extra boost of knowing what shitty sleep is doing to you. We are in for some real pain here... the whole world is. And at 70, I know I have no hope of seeing a recovery from the cult - the actual cult - of MAGA.
