Trumps team passed a waiver so food was exempt from USAid cuts but food needs transport and storage which are NOT free- in effect making the food waiver null. Support for disease treatment, water pipes, disease surveillance all cut too by Trump/DOGE activity with devastating impacts

Never heard of ASPR? It’s the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response. For health emergencies. Like natural disasters or infectious disease outbreaks. You may not know or think much about ASPR on the regs, but you’ll notice when it’s not there for the next health emergency.

Important to mention the 1st spillover was detected in March 2024 (and occurred in Nov-Dec 2023). The 2nd & 3rd were detected today and last week. Will we find another next week? More cows. More birds. More humans (H5 & lots of seasonal subtypes). Really not loving any of the current flu trends.

Executive wants to frame the NIH indirects cut as $4B in savings. But given that NIH returns $2.5 on every $1 investment, this would actually cost US economy a net $6 BILLION (per year!). Not to mention the human costs of wrecking education and research sectors and the communities they serve.
