Yeah, I think I quit over some festival.and then felt like I couldn't just...start again until a new year. Brains are dumb.

I'm so sorry. There's something special about friends with similar tastes. 💞

Congrats on keeping up! I did really well with it in 22, quit about halfway into 23, and got back at it last year. Now it's PRETTY well ingrained, though occasionally I'm playing catch up!

The finale is solid, but gosh, the slog to get there isn't worth it. (Okay, I do still say Happy Cinco de Cuarto on May 4th.)

Finally, I know it's wild, but Serena Joy is absolutely my favorite character. She is just so perfectly written. More cishet white women need to see themselves in her. I'll probably write a lot about her in my S2 recap, but she's an amazing character and Yvonne Strahovski is brilliant in the role.

Also, I desperately want Ann Dowd and Elisabeth Moss to co-star in a road trip comedy after this final season is over. I want those ladies to do something joyful for us after this slog.

(I say I'm not a rabble-rouser rouser, but I also literally walked up to a woman scrolling on her phone at Nosferatu and told her she needed to put it away or leave the theater. So like...maybe I am? 😂)

I'm not a huge rabble-rouser, but I also got in the face of a local Nazi working to take away the rights of trans kids in my state last year, so it's not outside of the realm of possibility. You just don't fuck with my kids or my students (my other gig is teaching private piano lessons).

It's so upsetting. But I'm immensely proud of these people I don't know.

Seriously. I loved Bitch Media.

There are a few here I've seen and I agree that they should not be seen. Redeeming Love is at the top of the list because it really is done pretty well, but the message is DEEPLY upsetting. A lot of those are more obvious in their awfulness, but that one hides it better.

Heck, as the cis parent of trans kids, even *I* cannot catch any of this transgender money. So sad.

Yeah, I think the idea that it has to be written "in order" can throw people. I mean, it's nice when it works out that way! But in the "just get it done" of it all, writing what you know you want to/have to say first is a great strategy.

Seriously, this is possibly my favorite red carpet fit ever.

Also, isn't the writing the part that most of us writers like to do??? Truly, this is the most baffling thing to me.

I think the line that struck me the most in the first episode was Aunt Lydia (long live Ann Dowd!!!) saying "Soon, this will all become normal."
That's a gut punch if ever there was one.

The first two seasons might be? Seasons 3-4 start to feel a little like torture porn (IIRC), and then S5 was solid again. I would absolutely recommend S1 and as a woman who once had some Very Conservative views, I found S2 amazing, but that might just be me.

That's part of why I started it well in advance of the new season. I don't intend to binge this. And I'm not going to analyze every episode - will probably do season recaps for in the weeks leading up to the final season. I may try to do weekly recaps for the final season, but I'm not sure.

I mean, there's that, too. 😬
I know it's a dumb time to rewatch such a traumatic show, but there are aspects that I think I need to see.
