Nebraskan here (far from a Republican tho)- I'm embarrassed on behalf of my state and my country, reeallllly worried about how this will impact our most vulnerable citizens, but also aware this is the result of FAFO. T*ump told us exactly what he was going to do, and now he's doing it.

I feel this deep in my soul

Okay, this is super weird, but-- when I was a sixth grader, a fifth grader bit my ankle. 😬 So I guess write the book? There are at least two kids (one who is now 41) who are Hungry For Ankles.

At this point I hear the entire discussion as "golf golf golf."

No no no, literally was supposed to be the file where I put stuff to send to my accountant. So when I say my Scrivener files are in there, please read this as: Allison Bitz Is a Hot Mess.

Well darnit! I did recently learn I have my root files saved in what is supposed to be my "accountant folder", I have no idea why. LOL.

I'm good with more work if it pays off. Always.

Gosh, I wish I could offer guidance but I'm a YA novelist and have never taken on a PB! I bet there are other folks who know this stuff, though.

That's a great idea! I might try that in the future. 💪

I'll have to look into Obsidian! Thanks

I'm also trying to ditch Google docs because of AI! Which is unfortunate because it's super handy

Voice notes are super handy for brain dumping ideas on the fly and then transcription later! One of my CPs wrote big chunks of her novel this way and it was fascinating. #kidlitchat

Yeah, notes app on phone FTW! I've got a ton of random bits of dialogue, prose, story premises...it's a mess in there, but a beautiful mess. #kidlitchat

Tell me more about how it helps for novel-in-verse specifically! I'm so curious.

Okay, I totally need to look into the Bluesky drafts app. Is it collaborative? I'm trying to get away from using Google Docs to work with CPs because of the AI component.

ME TOO GREG, ME TOO. The memory of the donut is strong.

It's a challenge for YA novels to get the newest tech written authentically-- i.e., the trending social media, video games, even emojis (I usually don't even try). I've already had to remove Twitter from one novel, JUST prior to publication! 🤦‍♀️ #kidlitchat

Yeah, the eyes are appropriate!!

I'm a big fan of Scrivener for drafting!! Also, I need social media DMs to brainstorm and work out plot problems with my beloved critique partners. #kidlitchat

I've got a super advanced copy of something great by @adriennerivera.bsky.social ...look out for this fun upcoming YA novel!

I'm obsessed with this cover and this premise. Can't wait to read!

I called every day last week! My topics included Medicare (I spoke as a Medicare provider about what damaging things I'm already seeing, BEFORE cuts) and the constitutional crisis involving the 14th amendment. Will post on this week's topics as they emerge.
