They're magnetic so you just hold them at the side and they click in! Then there's a button near the top on the console part that releases them and you can pull them off.

I did!! I won the lotto to go to a preview event and got to play for a couple of hours, it was phenomenal. I will pre-order if it's even possible with tariffs.

Anyway!! It was really cool!! The event was nice and well organized and the system is great and ahhhh I'm still so jazzed, I can't believe I was lucky enough to win this lotto, and YES I will DEFINITELY be pre-ordering one, tariffs be damned (uggggh). (end thread) #NintendoSwitch2

It's a little bigger than the original Switch and definitely feels it, but even with my tiny hands it wasn't hard to hold. I liked the click-in joycon holder mode (no idea what that's called) and the pro controller was fine but I almost always play handheld anyway. #NintendoSwitch2

I am not knowledgeable enough to give anyone info about the specs, etc -- what I can say is that everything ran REALLY smoothly and felt zippy. I loved the snappy magnet joycons even if I think mouse mode is probably not going to be widely used. #NintendoSwitch2

And then on the way out, the bored ushers downstairs all clapped for everyone 😂 They also gave us backpacks as swag -- really nice ones actually, with a pocket meant to fit the Switch2 and a padded sleeve inside for a laptop, I will actually definitely use that. #NintendoSwitch2

And then we were ushered out to play Donkey Kong Bananza, which apparently comes out on my birthday?! Happy birthday to ME, it was GREAT. Not quite open world but lots of room to explore and find secrets, and it was SO fun. Metroid is my forever fave, but that's my #2 from the day. #NintendoSwitch2

Then I played the Kirby Forgotten Land update intro, which was also super fun -- basically the same map as the main game but new weird abilities, I'll definitely play that too. I also snuck a peek at the TOTK graphics upgrade -- WOW. Quicker and beautiful. #NintendoSwitch2

I got pulled into a game of Mario Party Jamboree and that was actually much better for mouse controls. As with all Mario Party minigames it was sheer chaos and luck but super fun to do, and there was a lot of shrieking among strangers, lol. #NintendoSwitch2

I tried the wheelchair basketball game from the direct, I think it's neat but it actually hurt my wrists playing with the mouse mode like that, so that one's a pass for me. I think the mouse controller thing is fun but a gimmick; I'll be curious if it really gets used widely. #NintendoSwitch2

I tried Yakuza 0 (just for you, @thesecondbatgirl.bsky.social) and apparently this version will have 30 new cut scenes. (They're also still fixing bugs, it was a big rush to get it out, but I was told it should be in good shape by the time the console ships.) #NintendoSwitch2

After that I tried the weird little game that shows you around the console... Astrobot it is not 😂 It was fun and good to try the mouse control, but I'm not sure I'd pay for it (and I'm surprised it's not free with the system tbh). #NintendoSwitch2

Then we got to wander the floor and pick which games we wanted for an hour and a half. I made a beeline for Metroid Prime 4, because it's my fave. I ran around, shot and/or scanned a lot, and died to the first boss. It will definitely be the first thing I play on #NintendoSwitch2

Now that I'm home & can type properly: it was super cool! The first thing on the way in was all of those glass cases showing it off, then people got paired off to go play Mariokart World for 20 minutes. I have never actually played Mariokart before but it was fun! #NintendoSwitch2

For some reason my $5 pharma card has been $0 since the last time they lost my account and I had to call and shout at them, which I'm not mad about, just confused.

Hey friend! Definitely a firehose over here, I have to read on a filter 90% of the time so I'm glad I caught you! <3 For chatting and catching up -- I've been writing (about to start querying again, ugh) and making pottery (still pretty beginner at it but it's a lot of fun. How are you?

Yeah I included in my calls that I don't want to be stopped or asked questions about my health when I'm just trying to ride the subway.

Good news: my food came! Bad news: I was trying a new restaurant and it's deeply mid.
