Ooh, I haven’t seen that one as it came out in 2011. I also love more poetry so I’d say it’d be right up my street too!

From long ago in the mists of time when I was a biblical scholar, the NRSV was our trusted friend. It’s ecumenical & very true in translation & there are a good few annotated versions of it that have extra context too.

Anyway! Sharing this today in case it resonates as a helpful idea for anyone out there: mapping these patterns of your life, indexing with symbolism and archetypes. It feels good to be anchored in the here and now, but stretching back and forth through the infinity of time with tendrils of ideas!

And then the very next day, I went to see the original paintings of the Thoth tarot deck in London, at the Warburg Institute with my love and some friends, and my friend @halomedes.bsky.social bought a new deck… & we drew the 8 of Wands. Another reminder of the beautiful life!

Seeing it again felt like an omen of “here’s what was waiting for you; here’s the beautiful life you can create”.

It’s making connections with my own life, joining dots, and remembering the important stuff.
Like last Thursday morning, I drew the 8 of Wands, and was instantly transported to a time 7 years ago when I drew it. At that time, I was at a real crossroads. I felt so lost and unsure in my life.

Now when I draw the cards, I know the meaning. I can recite chunks of the Book of Thoth by heart. So what excites me is to flip back through the pages of my journal to the last time I had that card, to connect with that past version of myself, to bring whatever wisdom I had that day into today.

I want to cook Indian food as good as I can get in a really good restaurant! So I am looking for recipes that will help me to "level up" there - any kind of dish with sauce that I can practice and perfect at a very high level.

You must accept that the world is on fire and simultaneously try to douse the flames. You must accept that your life is perfect, with all its flaws and annoyances and griefs and burdens, and still strive to improve yourself and your circumstances.
