This is a really good book. My favorite part was how it an early chapter showed how the working class was terrorized by the state to be divested of their commons and organization. It shows how capitalism and carcerality developed together as one coherent system.

One of my favorite stories about/from US history is that New York pigs were a class issue/struggle/conflict for a long time. Amazing stuff. African and Irish-American women literally rioted and freed their pigs when the elite tried taking them of the streets. Pigs were the only sanitation system lol
