Many of my posts include ways I recommend to #Resist. In the comments many of you have great ideas on how to do so effectively. altFWS tips for resistance: 10) Engage local elected officials you know. Encourage them to speak up for your community. This has more power than you realize.

The Reduction in Force page went blank today, presumably to have a new plan added. It is expected we will need to further reduce our workforce, with early rumors focusing on a 10-, 20-, or 40-percent reduction depending on program. Take the time now to get basic knowledge.

Looks like change is coming. The office feels heavy with everyone wondering what is about to happen. No one feels safe.

Another story of a FWS employee who was terminated. Bianca Sicich isn’t ready to let go of the prairie just yet. It’s the last Friday of Feb and she’s up early to volunteer at the Attwater Prairie Chicken National Wildlife Refuge west of Houston. This morning, she’s literally counting chickens.

As I head into work today, my reflections will be on last nights speech to Congress. 1) Lavish fish monitoring: I appreciate the image several of you have posted about bedazzled fish. We wish! Our fisheries program is so understaffed, our biologist’s idea of lavish is a lunch break.

Lavish is what we do daily! (Dripping with sarcasm). Our fish hatcheries do not have enough staff, and that was before the illegal terminations. We got approval to purchase fish food, but who will do the work? There is nothing lavish about our operations. Come visit, we are open.

Tonight in the President’s address to Congress he renamed a National Wildlife Refuge from Anahuac NWR to Jocelyn Nungaray NWR.
