My sourdough starter actually tripled in size for the first time! I’m so proud 💜 I’ve only been able to get her to double before she falls back down.

So, I was given some sourdough starter on Sunday and I’ve been counter feeding it for the past few days. I didn’t know that most people discard some of their starter between feedings. After I make my 5000 loaves of bread tonight, I think my starter is going to have to live in the fridge. 🥖

Regardless of who farmers voted for, we as a society can’t live without food. This should enrage everyone. USAID contracts provide 2 billion dollars each year to American farmers. If they don’t survive, we won’t survive.

An American flag built on the backs of Black people... Black music protesting white political terror in registers they never hear; reminiscent of ancestral spirituals embedded with instructions for runaways All this in New Orleans... What a moment

MCAO troubles: today my filament went into the pterygopal artery and I could not for the life of me get it to stay in the ICA. And then I accidentally cut it while trying to ligate 😭 but this has got to be the final hurdle 💪🏽

The DOJ report on the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. “This report [is a] rigorous examination of one of the darkest episodes of our nation’s past. This report shows that the massacre was the result not of uncontrolled mob violence, but of a coordinated, military-style attack on Greenwood.”

The revolution may need violence. That is a possibility. But it also needs healers. It needs gardeners. It needs leaders. It needs managers. It needs cooks. It needs farmers. It needs tailors. It needs educators. It needs journalists. It needs artists. It needs builders. You are not useless.

This is treason. He’s not even a real government official yet, he shouldn’t be anywhere near the payment system

Love this! 🫶🏾

NEWS: 180 Republicans voted AGAINST funding the FAA, the agency that keeps planes from crashing. Trump selected eight of them to serve in his administration. Read our new research—and yes, we name names.

This is what the government did with 120K+ Japanese Americans in 1942. I know. I was there in those camps.

Trump's Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy voted against FAA funding in 2019 during his time in Congress. His vote to defund the air safety agency raises questions about his current role overseeing transportation safety.

Donold is blaming a plane crash that killed 67 people on “DEI” with zero evidence. He is attempting to use racism to deflect from the fact it is HIS fault. He had just removed 100 FAA senior officials. It’s been 11 days and there are 67 bodies in the Potomac in Washington DC because of him.

Hey, while we're talking about erasing history: In 1949 the US military held its first Aeriel Gunnery Competition, later known as "Top Gun." The best of the best competed in dogfighting and other skills. The team that won, was the 332nd: The Tuskegee airmen. So they refused to announce a winner🤡

After a ban on diversity programs and a communications freeze at the National Institutes of Health, neuroscientists are left worrying about the future of several funding programs. By @avaskham.bsky.social and @claudia-lopez.bsky.social #neuroskyence www.thetransmitter.org/funding/neur...

This week is an opportunity to explain things about how NIH works to your friends, family, etc that aren’t in the biz. This is the last available data from NIH, Fiscal Year 2023. The percentile rank is the relative merit score voted by various study section. Lower is better in the NIH parlance.

First they came for the immigrants, and I spoke out, because I’ve read the damn poem before and I know how it ends.

I can’t even look at the news today but this is about where I’m at. Artist credit: Liberal Jane

@maureenbiologies.bsky.social Hey Maureen, add me to the DSPAN group! I’m all in, let’s fight together

AOC: "I want folks at home to look at what members of Congress are invested in private prisons companies, and look at the votes on this bill. It is atrocious that people are lining their pockets with private prison profits in the name of a horrific tragedy."
