It is lower in terms of number of proposals (1712 last cycle I think) but not necessarily in terms of time requested. Big change is archival use, huge use of it by China.

Results will be communicated to PIs in August 2025. The Cycle 12 observations will be scheduled between October 2025 and September 2026.

The masers arise from excited levels and include nine new very high excitation (J, K) = (9,6) maser sources between levels over 1000K above ground.
