Following my exertion this morning walking up and down a hill, I am allowed a treat: a Michelin star, Lake Road Kitchen chocolate cookie and a mug of tea…

Invigorating morning walking up to Alcock Tarn with an unusual bright thing in the sky. Looking south towards Mrs.N and Windermere is the distance…

And on arrival at our table in The Old Stamp House restaurant, we both burst into the Taskmaster theme tune…

Morning espresso At Mathilde’s, Grasmere I’ve got my lines aligned…

Luncheon: ham butty, portion of chips and a Britannia Blonde at the Britannia Inn, Elterwater. It’s not all about the posh places!

When you get down that bottom end of Langdale, you turn the corner and the breeze dials up to a more enthusiastic setting.,. (Mrs.N striding out) (sound on.,,)

Langdale Pikes this morning…

Morning espresso at Mathilde’s, Grasmere…

Peanuts for tea…again!

Pork… Pistachio gelato with cherry jam… Cheesecake… Woodruff gelato…

Smoked monkfish with Burrata… Octopus… “Porridge” topped with Parmesan… Halibut… 2/2

Lake Road Kitchen, Ambleside last night… Chorizo…sublime Salmon…special Fried chicken with Korean spicing and jalapeños…nothing like it! 1/3

Frogs…loads of them.

On this morning’s walk down the side of Derwentwater we were distracted by frogs… (Sound on for the video)

And here's another!

Luncheon: at the Borrowdale Gates Hotel…roast beef and horseradish butty. Magnificent.

Morning espresso at Mathilde’s Grasmere…

And Mrs.N’s video’d double badgers…

Gary Neville's house, Altrincham, Cheshire.

A badgers bum. Double badgers tonight eating peanuts on the patio…

Luncheon: in the Jolly Man Cafe (as we call it), in Grasmere…haggis on toast, with eggs! #Baldry’sGrasmere

Luncheon: grilled halloumi with mango chutney on Mrs.N’s homemade sourdough. With a rocket and tomato salad…

I’ll just bump this up… Preparing for public inquiries, 24 March, Leeds…. @rtpiplanners.bsky.social #RTPI_Yorkshire @kingschambers.bsky.social #Shoosmiths

Luncheon: Food of the Gods! Teacake with lambs liver fried in butter and Marsala, with fried red onions and crispy fried onions. Accompanied by a neat Oloroso.

Luncheon: corned beef on a teacake smeared with Marmite, then topped with sliced pickled onions, a horseradish and mayonnaise dressing and sauerkraut (of two sorts). Accompanied by a cheeky Amontillado. I am self-catering as Mrs.N is out.

I've never been more in favour of an awareness week than British Pie Week, which is apparently this week. I support the awareness of pies

Latest on the rhubarb situation: @whiskas9.bsky.social has made a rhubarb crumble fortified with Grasmere Gingerbread. #GrasmereGingerbread #RhubardFedtivsl #Wakefield

The Lads are with us today…fish fingers for luncheon (with tomato ketchup):

Rhubarb Festival Time! Lovely morning in Wakefield. Rhubarb has been acquired together with cheeses (and chutneys), Grasmere Gingerbread, and RHUBARB PAKORA!

Having received a planning decision this morning, I have what is described in the North as a chuffed client: "...what an outstanding result across the board! The timing, mechanism, and the outcome, have all exceeded expectations" I perhaps ought to be charging more...

Very entertaining evening with #MilesJupp at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough. Yes, I’ve experienced the equivalent of drinking with mates until 4 in the morning during the course of which agreeing to buy a greyhound together.

Hot night out in a cold Scarbados!

And pudding; Chocolate, raspberry and hazelnuts with mascarpone and raspberry blobs and sherbet… Overall this has been superb - expensive, but excellent and fun. There’s a bit more involved than just warming food up but it’s easy. Would recommend - Made in Oldstead: mail order tea!

We’re spreading this over two nights… Main course tonight: mushroom wellington with stuff, blobs and s posh potato… #OldsteadAtHome #TommyBanks

Continuing: Burrata (Never had a two burrata week before). With a fig & apple chutney, chicory (the red stuff) and loads of other bits…including grated egg yoke (who’s ever bothered to cook an egg to grate the yoke before?)

Valentines Night special tea. From Tommy Banks’ Oldstead…cook it yourself…

As the email notifying me says: Attending your first public inquiry, or being asked to give evidence at one might feel a bit daunting... My first was in 1984 and I'm chairing this event with lovely folks from Shoosmiths and Kings Chambers. Fun guaranteed (trust me)! www.rtpi.org.uk/events/2025/...
