What's funny about this is how often he will directly quote or recreate scenes from stuff he likes in his work

Ahh, fair enough...
Niri is really cool, it's basically an infinite horizontal screen that you can scroll through. Lots of potential for the visually impared, and also great for those of us with ADHD.

Yeah, despite how frequently I go out and buy weird escoteric hardware, I've always been able to get it working.
At least these days, it used to be a crapshoot. Still, a lot of traps out there. Like... the official xp pen drivers being designed for x11 for example.

Though, I have a few like... conflicting opinions and views with the existing processes philosophy. Specifically, I have different library preferences, and am more interested in making something slightly more opaque that's more interested in working seamlessly than teaching you how to use nix

That's exactly what I'm doing!
I'm attempting to resurrect/speed up the snowflakeOS project, if it comes to it I may make a hard fork, but I'm hopeful that I can just make a bunch of pull requests and LinkZ will return to the project.
Need to finish my niri ui first though.

Then run
nix profile install github:mrshmllow/affinity-nix#photo
All done. In theory, if someone makes something like this fir photoshop it'll be just as reliable. Nix is uniquely capable for wine apps

Open/create .config/nix.conf
Add
substituters = cache.garnix.io
trusted-public-keys = cache.garnix.io:CTFPyKSLcx5RMJKfLo5EEPUObbA78b0YQ2DTCJXqr9g=
extra-experimental-features = nix-command flakes

Quickstart guide is:
Run this to install lix (a nix package manager)
curl -sSf -L install.lix.systems/lix | sh -s -- install
Download a copy of affinity photo.

I can think of one way to make it work. Basically, it'd need a nix flake. One of these exists for affinity photo, besides hating adobe, this is part of the reason I made the switch to affinity.

If we in the community can make this sucker user-friendly (like, click this to install that friendly), we'll have actually made a better desktop experience than any other OS can provide. I've decided to dedicate an unhealthy amount of my time to this cause. 🙃

So NixOS fixes inconsistency issues, backwards compatibility issues, and all those "it works on my machine, unsure why it doesn't on yours" problems better than even mac or windows...
Just oneeee problem.
Using it requires you to learn a new programming language.

Sorry but I must declare war on you for using a different DE to me, it's nothing personal. Just really love niri.

i think its easier to learn than windows is these days but learning anything new is gonna require *some* effort and most people just explain that effort as linux itself being hard. it's not uniquely hard its just unfamiliar

There's a lot I could talk about regarding modern game development, why newer AAA games frequently look worse than games made a few years ago, while running poorly, but that's... kinda its own thing
