Yeah there's gotta be a balance in there somewhere. Some subjectivity will always be a part of it, but when there's no clearly defined process, it makes it too easy to abuse/bias.
comment in response to post
I was just gonna say that. Dammit, what have you done?!?!?!

Now do I trust Bsky more than I ever trusted Twitter, but without having defined criteria for what constitutes a "notable" account, it just leaves all sorts of room for subjective biases in the process. It think that's where you'll hear the complaints.

If you thought the Twitter Verification worked (pre-Elon, obviously post-Elon definitely not) it's only because you were not a woman in tech. Women with vast backgrounds, long wikipedia pages, and massive followings were denied blue checks while little known men constantly received them.

Yeah, he and I talked about that exact concept in our debrief after the flight

Had I not gone with your suggestion, this would have been the soundtrack I'd have chosen: youtu.be/PGNiXGX2nLU?...

Surprisingly not so terrifying. In fact it was kinda fun once I knew I could get it back 🙂

I think because we were doing hover practice at the ramp and he sort of just decided to see if I could put it in the cart. Their general preference is that pilots put the helicopters on the carts so maybe just getting me ready for that?? 🤷‍♀️
comment in response to post
Hovering is the hardest. Having to keep it stable on four different axis of movement with 3 separate controls while the aircraft just wants to whip itself into oblivion is pretty tough

Thanks, it was. Great way to help put yesterday's awfulness behind me or at least out of mind for a while.

It was pretty wild, it's a weird feeling landing on that cart. Also, I didn't realize it until he told me after the flight that my instructor wasn't touching the controls at all.

Most likely yes, the one most think of in infosec when we talk McLaren's :)
comment in response to post
This reminds me of the time a friend took me to a local bar in their McLaren and after we were inside heard guys drooling over the car and talking about how much "pussy that guy gets". SHE and I had a lot of fun with that 😅

Well if one doesn't have the information present needed to make a valid conclusion why would one assume and then use that assumption to make a conclusion. Again I acknowledged that the persons' post came from a place of care but also pointed out the issue wasn't what they assumed it to be.
comment in response to post
I wish you wouldn't assume you know what's bothering me and then basically minimize it. I do know you're trying to help, and I appreciate that. But trust me, what had me in this place yesterday was much more tangible than existential dread.

Well i mean one of these days we gotta go flying somewhere!!

And my point was, being in a blue state isn't going to protect you a bit when the laws and oppression are coming from the federal government. Newsome, Pritzker, etc. can bluster all they want.
comment in response to post
I live in the swingy-est of swing states actually.
comment in response to post
Blue state/red state is all meaningless when the threat is from the federal government and it's empowerment of vigilante militias.

Can't relocate to a foreign country without a work permit to be in that country. Current employer despite having offices in multiple countries I'd like to relocate to is unwilling to sponsor a visa. So trapped unless I want to get and can find a new employer willing to sponsor.

Yeeesh, ok that's cringe AF

Oh I fully agree with that. This was a sight-seeing flight, nothing more. I don't fault them for that. But I am now seeing more that the feminist victory story is as much their making as it was the media, and that's fucked. I had assumed that was just media and Blue Origin's fluff narrative.

I'll readily admit, all I have seen is the various memes and shit dunking on them but it all seemed focused on the cost and Perry "kissing the ground". Also admittedly, I'm probably more sensitive because of the venom I've received from some for "showing off" with my aviation related posts.
comment in response to post
Yeah I guess I'm uninformed on this because I thought that was all this was. Hmmm, off to go read I guess.
comment in response to post
How about both?
comment in response to post
This is true too!!! It'd be all about the sight seeing and the experience. I hadn't seen they were declaring this as a science achievement? Cuz yeah that's pretty f'ed up if they are.
