Gov. DeWine just signed SB1, a law ending “DEI” in Ohio public higher ed. Now that it’s law, U of Toledo just killed the following BA programs: • Africana Studies • Asian Studies • Disability Studies • Middle East Studies • Philosophy • Religious Studies • Women's/Gender Studies And… • Spanish

Possibly the best interview of all-time

Pete Hegseth is treating the Pentagon like it’s a Fox News set—ordering a makeup studio while leaking sensitive information in Signal chats. This is what happens when you put clout-chasers in charge of national security.

The National Institutes of Health plans to pool information from private sources like pharmacies and smartwatches.

💥 BREAKING: Levi Strauss shareholders voted today to reject a proposal calling on the company to cease / abolish all DEI efforts (tally TBD). LEVI Board: “Diversity and inclusion principles are critical in ensuring that our products reflect and are relevant to our diverse global consumer base.”

Your daily jumbled Kira

Al gore is pissed off and I’m here for it

Right now, the President is flipping between Fox News, OAN and Newsmax searching for a new person to lead the Pentagon.

National security clearances? Overrated. Now you too can stay in the loop—thanks to Pete Hegseth’s Friends & Family Plan! youtube.com/shorts/-CKXq...

Sending my love to everyone

🧪🌊The world's largest iceberg, A23a, which ran aground on the edge of the South Georgia continental shelf two months ago, has started to break up. Ten days ago a fragment calved from its SW corner and has drifted away rapidly eastwards. The fragment is itself immense, measuring 19 km in length.

A bit of good news! I've just heard that the four Regional Climate Centers whose contracts had lapsed have received an official notice to get back up and running from NOAA. They should be running soon. Via Randy Cerveny

BREAKING NEWS: The White House has begun the process of looking for a new secretary of defense, according to a U.S. official who was not authorized to speak publicly.

@ruthmarcus.bsky.social in the @newyorker.com: “The Justices, most of them, must now understand: we are not dealing with an Administration that deserves the benefit of the doubt. … The ensuing 1 a.m. order represented the Administration reaping the results of its own bad-faith arguments.”

Check out these incredible photos! 🤩 📸 🏔️

Serious question. Kristi Noem was pictured with a Rolex in El Salvador, and got 3k in cash stolen. She has been on a govt salary for years. Something aint right

Almost every line of this story would have been simply unbelievable a few months ago: —Pioneering cancer researcher; —*Arrested* at airport in Boston; —Now indefinite ICE detention in Louisiana; —"Crime": not declaring some frog-embryo samples for research. Read it. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...

Maybe we should honor the women who were real astronauts. From left to right are Shannon W. Lucid, Margaret Rhea Seddon, Kathryn D. Sullivan, Judith A. Resnik, Anna L. Fisher, and Sally K. Ride. NASA selected all six women as their first female astronaut candidates in January 1978.

Today, all of you helped shift the narrative. You can see it clearly in the wave of MAGA comments trying to drown us out, they’re rattled. Small towns across the Heartland drawing record-breaking crowds? That’s not something we’ve seen before.

Today was a busy but beautiful day to stand up for democracy and the rule of law in #Charleston. @50501movement.bsky.social

I need everyone to stop and admire this Louisvillian's extravagant commitment to tulips.

so I guess for the foreseeable future I’m going to have to wake up every couple of hours in the middle of every night to refresh supremecourt.gov to see if anything new has happened in the ongoing case of 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙚𝙭 𝙧𝙚𝙡. 𝘽𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙇𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙤𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙨 𝙫. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙪𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙇𝙖𝙬

Today was truly inspiring. Something happened that we’ve never seen before, you made noise in places that rarely see protests like this. Communities across traditionally conservative areas hosted historic turnouts.

We chose in our small town to not do a march this week, but to act in other ways, and to take notice of the green growing things that give us the new hope of spring this week. Shgagwei, Lkoot Kw'aan, Lingít Aaní.

Very creative, San Francisco! 8647 ✊

The turnout in small towns across the country has been incredible drawing crowds of thousands. We’re already seeing over one million in attendance nationwide, and events are still underway. Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Ohio all had especially surprising showings.

@altnps.bsky.social is reporting more than 3 million so far and numbers are still coming in!! 🤝
