Shout out to the best guy in #GenAI #highered today @dannydotliu.bsky.social - I’ve been dipping in and out while dealing with GenAI cheating/misconduct cases - the day has been brilliant. Thank you to USyd for putting this all on FREE. #OzHE

#highered community! I’m looking for a keynote for a conference in Chicago - someone who is researching #GenZ and how they learn. For a group of uni/college educators. I know the big names - but I’m wondering if there might be a great up-and-coming person who might be deserving of a spotlight!

I just accidentally discovered the maximum on the number of tabs you can have open in Safari on an iPhone - 500 😂 I honestly have no idea what all the tabs are - I’m going scorched earth and closing them all! #adhd

A student failed & lodged a review request stating that they were *certain* their responses deserved more marks - a very specific mark in fact. I review the paper, as @cathellis13.bsky.social & @ccguerilla.bsky.social often say - you see a loose thread 🧵 and start pulling … #academicintegrity

No ❌ a Reddit thread from r/professors showing that someone has gone back to a paper and pencil exam to test whether students “really know anything” is not a valid reason to have all subjects go back to in person paper and pencil exams as the best form of assessment 🤦‍♀️ #HE #assessment

I swear that the #ConcurAuditor makes claiming your expenses so hard that you just give up and pay for them yourself (& as a former auditor - I’d like to think I’m fairly detail-oriented, I know the process, understand the rules etc). I guess that’s one way for universities to save funds 🤷‍♀️

Me at a meeting where there is a suggestion to introduce 50% invigilation to each and every subject. Apparently seeing pics of other unis near us with students in big exam halls with written papers is making some colleagues jealous #highered

Applied learning at its best - I’ve got a flight delay and am watching our best business students from UTS compete in the Microsoft Excel Collegiate Challenge in Vegas! www.youtube.com/live/80sGtRI...

@jasonmlodge.bsky.social echos @cathellis13.bsky.social - we need to figure out what to LET GO of in HE programs and curriculum. This is a real challenge when T&R academics are protective over content & gain significant time efficiency that is re-allocated to research #ascilite2024

“Learners need to be good learners first, before they can be good learners with AI” @jasonmlodge.bsky.social #ascilite2024

@jasonmlodge.bsky.social is a member of UQ academic board to advocate for appropriate decision making and governance. Need more edtech people involved! Academic board, Teaching and Learning Committee, your faculty TLC, your department or school TLC #RunForSomething #ascilite2024

What are you going to advocate for? @jasonmlodge.bsky.social #ascilite2024 sketchnote

The importance of research-informed decision-making IMO underscores the importance of senior leaders to have research (and maybe even T&L!) backgrounds and active engagement in research production... #ascilite2024

@jasonmlodge.bsky.social invites us all to be advocates for HE, edtech etc by writing for Needed Now in L&T - #ascilite2024 Subscribe needednowlt.substack.com

The calculator and GenAI are not the same #ascilite2024 (fun fact, I almost failed intro finance because I struggled deciphering how to use the calculator 😂) GenAI does not feel like a tool like a calculator

The blue ok button is back - but @thomcochrane.bsky.social came to the rescue #ascilite2024

We’re about to have the Roy Kent of AI in higher education give the final keynote of #ascilite2024 @jasonmlodge.bsky.social

What a fun night with friends at Camp ASCILITE #ascilite2024 conference dinner at the Melb Museum 💃🪩

Interesting research from Jess and Andrea Monash about video and written feedback - video gives students more positive emotions vs written, but video doesn’t reduce negative emotions. #ascilite2024

@drjot.bsky.social has a great thread about the panel on AI literacy - bummed to miss this because I was presenting, but glad I’ve got Jo’s commentary on BlueSky

Andrew Eberhard from Uni Auckland sharing some cool stuff about AI feedback - the Soul Machine avatar is able to read student facial expressions and adapt feedback and advice #ascilite2024 #DigitalHumans

Phew - that 15 min went so quickly! Thank you everyone who came to my session at #ascilite2024 🙏❤️ We’re not quite sure where the slides are going to be posted by the @asciliteconf.bsky.social, so here is a link! bit.ly/3VlsYwZ

There should be no going “back” on your slides during a pecha kucha because you didn’t finish explaining it 😂 #ascilite2024
