I guess it takes 2 weeks to make a taco

Important reminder: the Skrmetti decision does not affect Minnesota

Counterpoint: Women are ahead of the curve on knowing AI is bullshit. www.ft.com/content/7f0f...

A top staffer to Sen. Tina Smith emailed Sen. Mike Lee’s top staffers on Monday about “how much additional pain you’ve caused on an unspeakably horrific weekend” Via Sam Stein on twitter

It's always interesting to compare the numbers to the Tea Party protests and the respective coverage of them.

Genie: ok what do you want for your birthday Trump: a military parade, oh, and also millions of people on the street chanting my name Genie: okie dokie

Crowds of what look like at least a couple thousand by my estimate in Minnetonka, #Minnesota, and more people keep arriving! The mood is upbeat & defiant ✊🇺🇸

It's been 8 years since the iconic moment Tom Holland lip-synced "Umbrella" by Rihanna for Zendaya. 🎥

In a few years (max) when people start asking why we thought AI was a good idea I am creating a record that we did NOT think it was a good idea and the main reason people were ever convinced was billions of dollars of propaganda

If be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous about the storms we were supposed to get this PM. But now that it looks like the Metro is threading the needle and avoiding all the serious weather threats, I have to admit I'm a little disappointed.

My youngest kid wanted to add a Like button to their blog, so I had to figure out how to do that and wrote up how I did it. It's extremely rudimentary, and there is a lot that could be improved, but most importantly, I had fun! dev.to/the-amber-jo...

the "man or bear in the woods" thing is currently spawning my my least favorite type of discourse, which is 1) women half jokingly discuss something vaguely related to men 2) men get mad about it 3) women think it's funny that they're mad and double down 4) men start writing think pieces about it

Be careful out here y'all. And truth be told, I've really enjoyed Mastodon, it is whatever you make of it. mastodon.gamedev.place/@badlogic/11...

Social media can be fun, just for "the discourse" and the memes, but the massive platforms don't feel "social" enough for me to really put my heart into them. I prefer more direct personal connections. So nice that things seem to be trending that way again! www.businessinsider.com/social-media...

So a lot of people who are in unstable, abusive, and/or periodically violent living situations keep cell phones hidden for emergencies. If you know anyone in such a situation, make sure they know about FEMA's testing of its Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) system next Wednesday. /1

If you know anyone who keeps a mobile phone stashed for escaping an abuse situation, this is critical. Actual time is Wed, Oct 4, 2:20 ET

Good news! I just found out this archaic Minnesota fornication law got repealed this year!

I took my youngest kid to bunny yoga this morning and I still can't quite believe this was a real animal 🥺

Brody was born in the shelter, mother was a stray. I adopted him when he was 9.5 weeks old, and he's been my faithful shadow for over 11 years. He's been with me through so much, but now he has a fast-growing cancer and isn't long for this world. He's a sweet boy and I'm going to miss him so much💔

People should be calling their city council if their city has contracts with Musk. Call your state legislators if your state has contracts with Musk. Call your House representative and Senator and ask why the federal government has contracts with Musk.

1/ Drives me nuts when the school sends home stuff at the beginning of the school year that says stuff like, "We will have a designated snack time each day. Please send a healthy/protein rich snack like fruit, vegetables, raisins, or crackers".

its perfectly okay to change your position on something when you receive new information

Apparently I've been making coffee too weak all my life - like 1/3rd the strength that's typically recommended??? I've been happy enough. But this morning I made French press with a 1:15 ratio, closer to recommended strength. This isn't even in the same UNIVERSE as what I usually make at home damn

The entire United States healthcare system. A taxpayer-funded system would be cheaper and more efficient, but hospital owners want profits and insurance companies want profit and congress wants "campaign donations" so people die and leave their families in bankruptcy.

it's becoming clearer that bluesky was built for horrible tech bros and the people in power at the company are mad at us for making it not that at all

The most striking thing for me in the Farrow article is the repeated acknowledgment by government officials that they mostly just kiss his ass and let him break the law. It illustrates very clearly that there are no rules for the rich-- thanks in large part to privatization.

Last Wednesday evening Kris Nova had a climbing accident and died. All of us that loved her are heart broken and stunned.  She was an amazing person that lived out loud and built connection and community wherever she went.  She will be horribly missed.

ok, I joined yesterday and I have a few thoughts: 1) it is SO easy to set your own domain as your handle on here! such a great verification method. A little different than how Mastodon handles it, but I like both (especially compared to the birdsite)
