Fuck Nazis, fascists and the right-wing. None of them stand for humanity and human progress.

Since catching Age of Ultron on TV over xmas I had an urge to re-watch the Thanos story arc. Finished Avengers Endgame tonight. Still think they they're great films. Sadly, the idiots in the dominance today are very much in the vein of Thanos, arrogant, stupid and murderous.

Conclave was excellent. Gripping, looked great, great acting all round and such a good musical score.

One of the most horrifying stories to come out of this war of extermination. I posted the Hebrew reporting a few days ago, here it is in English. www.972mag.com/gaza-human-s...

True story: a few years ago, I was being interviewed by a reporter for the New York Times. I mentioned the history of eviction statutes and how they tied into Jim Crow. The reporter asked "what's Jim Crow?" When I explained, the reporter didn't believe me and said the US wouldn't do that.

I was thinking earlier about how some people say it's perfectly reasonable to want to 'look after your own' - but interestingly that's only allowed if you're a white straight man. No one else is permitted to advocate for their own interests, or those of people like them. That would be 'divisive'.

Eddie is giving me dirty looks, not sure if because it's past bedtime or he wants to be entertained.

classic Loony Tunes have much to teach us about class solidarity

This article underestimates the number of job losses (already reported elsewhere to have exceeded 10,000) and employs the misleading adjective 'leading' universities (meaning what, to whom?), but if you've been living under a rock and need a quick introduction to the topic, you could start here.

It’s shocking watching what’s happening in America and it makes you think we’ve been asking for decades, how does a state slide into fascism (because it seemed unthinkable), when we should have been asking the more pressing question, how do you stop it?

Let’s deregulate the flammability of children’s pyjamas to improve growth says @economist.com www.economist.com/leaders/2025...

Hundreds of job losses at big employers in our economically lagging regions, South Wales and North East England. The sectors have changed but the story is familiar.

And numerous academic related, professional services jobs too. The effect on the towns and cities that are losing all of these jobs (academic and academic related) will be immeasurable. Universities are amongst the major employers in many places. The knock-on will cause even more job losses.

On 27 Feb my book comes out. It’s about how Liverpool’s recent history should change the way we think about modern Britain. On this thread every few days till then, I will tweet an extraordinary fact about Liverpool’s twentieth-century. Pre-order here: www.waterstones.com/book/liverpo...

Well Breitbart having access to the WH briefing room and being invited to ask the first question by WH Press Sec referring to them as a 'respected news outlet' is not frightening at all...

I guess elections in Linz (Austria’s Birmingham, kind of) aren’t international news material, but the fact this has happened in a working class town while the far right (in blue) are about to take power on a national level is INTERESTING.
