Here's a blurry shot of his next meal attempt

I snagged one mid-chomp eating a little gnat once. It's a pure luck shot, and I deleted 200 other attempts to land this one.

That's gorgeous! Hummingbirds are a hard subject.

I'm pretty sure the ICE agents and Sheriff officers live nearby too.

But once they're out on the street together, dressed alike and working as a team to accomplish the same thing, I would argue that the observer isn't the one who has lumped them together - it's the one who deployed them.

That's a very good point.

So it's still required to refer to a group of 4 police and 8 military operating in a joint unit under the same commander as "Police and the military"?

Maybe they shouldn't. "The company you keep...'

My god, all that time growing up hearing it called "Fruit Salad" and it was really Ambrosia salad! Next you're going to tell me that lime jello with grapes and nuts in it *also* isn't technically a salad?

The "difference between law enforcement and an antifa protestor" is that I'm not paying the protestor's salary and empowering them with a legal monopoly on physical and lethal force in my name. I hate that so many people pretend to be confused about that.

I'm certainly not saying it should be open season to assault undercover cops, nor that there is no valid reason police should go undercover - but for systemic reasons, there should definitely be a "He was actively pretending NOT to be a cop" exception to 18.USC.111

"Hang on sir, we'll be up there to break that window glass so you can escape as soon as we've established this pulley system for the buckets to bring up the pike poles" 😆

@swiftonsecurity.com This is one of my favorite pieces of OSHA advice, in particular since we were told in fire academy that we must maintain 3 points of contact on all ladders, while carrying your tools up and down. Leaving us to wonder - which hand do we grab the next rung with? 😅

Don't you mean.... Kar-hens?

I'm not a miser, I would just much rather we made sure all jobs pay a living wage than whatever this insane mandatory-but-not-mandatory gratuity system we've walked ourselves into represents.

When NASA was in the learning phases of space flight, they blew up vehicles with actual people in them. People like to forget this fact.

All the assumptions we've made as a society about deference to law enforcement over the years have been predicated on our mental model of police who look like the ones on the left, but the cops we have actually given those powers to often look like the ones on the right.

It's amazing. The record industry, to most artists, is the all-powerful beast that creates or crushes you at its whims and with whom you can, at best, eventually escape and do your own thing. Taylor Swift *beat the final boss of music*.

OMG Thanks! I was really actually trying to figure out who he was after I saw that video. <3

This guy, from the "Last of Us" orchestral performance, is also legit awesome looking. I am very glad Symphonies loosened up on the dress code and formality a bit over the years.

Alert, the clarinet section is a smoke show

I do post here on infosec topics pretty regularly. Including today. 😆 So, there's _some_ infosec bluesky :D But yeah there's a lot of politics too.

I put a raspberry Pi online in a datacenter on an unfiltered IPv4 and had a few dozen wordpress RCE "attacks" in the first 10 minutes. I have to believe that if you have ANY background in security at all, you'll know that counting the number of "probes" is meaningless.

RE: Earthquake prep - my neighbor has a well. I have a generator. Together, we are... people who can have both water and electricity! :D

And, is it a CERT program or something else?

Even planning for a broader "social collapse" isn't completely unreasonable, as long as your compass needle points toward a smaller and more maintainable society in your local community. Prolonged disasters disrupt a lot of things we take for granted.

Those aren't scare quotes BTW, I'm a proud prepper. But you have to prep for thriving after a disaster, not just living alone surrounded by walls for the rest of your life. The best preps are community preps.
