unironically, this is what you get when you mistakenly believe your "peers" are a valuable source of business ideas and feedback this pack of peers is extra shitty but it's always an ouroboros

bad things happen when you confuse your actual Best Customers with your Ideal Customers or deeply funny things. depends on your perspective.

@brianclark.social hey hey, can i dm you?

this is so good 🥹

recut is a sharp, *focused* tool for editing a/v content

And if you enjoyed that, I definitely recommend jml’s post in a similar vein - notes.jml.io/2021-07-10-1... - I wish I’d read it before starting on mine!

some people say that the reason children are so spoiled is because we don’t hit them any more. news flash, you can still psychologically abuse your kids. just give them OKRs

1. lurk first to get the feeling for each subreddit - they all have different cultures 2. contribute useful posts/karma 3. link in bio 4. only after you've built up a decent amount of karma, start slowly dropping mentions of your work / product but not in a sales way, use it to teach/explain

using my safari + copywriting skills to help a nonprofit i believe in <3 these skills aren't just for sales, they're for every human activity where you want people to change their mind, learn new things, and take action

a tour through the rails codebase — looks excellent. what a great idea!

copycats gonna copy ass

and here's something shocking: this is literally THE ONLY email i've gotten from ANY company about tariffs and i buy a lot of stuff directly from specialized vendors for many reasons (my aggressive allergies being a big one)

a very good example of an email about very bad news from a business to a customer i bought a couple tiny, specialized camera lenses from this company before -- not their usual customer, but i thought this was a great way to talk about the *gag* tariffs (added it twice for the full alt text)

Related pattern we've started adopting: Instead of building tools for our support team that are accessed via the admin portal, we've started making them pages within user accounts. Mostly we log in as the user and run the tool for them, but we can tell power users how to do it themselves.

recently stumbled across a note-taking app called Kortex that's one way to tell there's not a single woman on the team

what the hell?? don’t do this. a joke means EVERYONE is laughing. if it makes people freak out, even for a minute, it’s not funny, it’s mean! “don’t be mean to your customers” shouldn’t require saying

casual reminder that the equine economy (horses & horse stuff) is $122b a year. in the US. alone. personally i would recommend no entrepreneur do anything that depends on these companies surviving.

ahem. @leenyburger.bsky.social and i have ONE spot left in the third cohort of @saasmarketinggym.bsky.social. cohort runs april 28-july 18. go get it: www.saasmarketinggym.com

what a neat little special purpose tool that is designed to solve every pain point for this particular job i love this!

anyone have a good list of entrepreneurs (esp solo + bootstrapping types) on here? đź‘€

for years, i muddled through with shitty systems on my macbook. i could either A. do the work in front of me (more slowly/irritatingly) or B. devote the brainpower to fix my metawork problems… but not both. now, FINALLY, i'm in a position where i can set things up RIGHT and i'm blogging about it:
