Nice lady from Texas. Into climate stuff, repro rights, books, good TV and movies, board games, vegan eats, and kitties.

I’m one of those who left walking dead after the glen episode. But I’ll keep watching last of us.

While I applaud anyone who chooses to be a vegan, focusing on your personal carbon footprint doesn't do anything to pressure companies and governments to take the kinds of big actions needed to fight climate change. That requires joining the climate movement, e.g., @sierraclub.org and @cclusa.org.

Yeah, those folks don’t give up. They’re in for the long haul. We can thank them (and their ilk) for Dobbs, Project 2025, and the near certainty that vouchers will pass the Texas legislature this session.

Same reason Dallas ISD stopped income-qualifying free lunch recipients and just started giving free lunch to all kids. It cost more to determine who ‘deserved’ free lunch than it did to just feed all the children.

I think I know why she doesn’t have bangs: she looks like she has a double cowlick, which would separate them in the middle and look goofy.
I tried bangs for years and had to abandon them for that very reason.
Here endeth the similarities between me and Tate McRae.

IIRC from 11-22-63, the timeline actively resisted change and thwarted his efforts to stop the assassination. The only rational conclusion is that we’re living in a simulation that’s controlled by an unseen, evil gamer. You’re welcome.

Beats me. The TDP is not a well-oiled machine.

It would be nice to have a singularly organized resistance movement. I live in Dallas, and yesterday, there were THREE separate protests. Why not just one? I have no idea. But it makes no sense, particularly if you want to show strength.

I remember trying to give a presentation when I was that pregnant and I could barely breathe because my daughter was crushing my lungs. This one was second only to Amy Poehler's Sarah Palin rap in terms of pregnancy feats.

Exactly nobody is quaking in their boots over condemnation by the American Bar Association.

I just wish so many of them weren’t bots. With rare exceptions, all my followers are bots.

Most of my resistance to going to a big event (and why I ultimately cancel so many times) is because parking is always going to be a nightmare. If we had decent public transit, or walkable cities, I might leave the house a little more.

No spoilers, but that shot toward the end of the finale was just chilling.
There should be way more discussion about this show.

those standards don't apply to Trump et al., so we need to stop insisting that our side obey all the rules of etiquette and order. besides, even if every member of our team did everything right and didn't miss a beat, we'd be accused of being too disciplined and on-message, like Kamala was.

So does the goat man’s outie come to work in the goat outfit, or does he come in dressed normally and his innie changes into the goat getup? #severance

Please ignore anybody who tells you what you, personally, can do to reduce your carbon footprint unless their first piece of advice is "become part of the environmental movement pressuring governments and industry to make major systemic changes to reduce carbon emissions."

Turning off power strips and recycling won't make a bit of difference when the oil and gas industry is spewing more carbon emissions in 30 seconds than an individual would in a lifetime. Sure, do what you can, but if you're not part of the climate movement, you're not checking any boxes.

Unfortunately, I got routed into voicemail hell. Maybe, by the time I called, they were tired of getting nice messages...
