That a world-historical plague was just going to be a clusterfuck no matter what and perhaps the message that we should throw grandparents out to die so the kids donāt fall behind in math gives the impression we donāt actually care about humans at all, which is not good for anyoneās mental health

And look, I donāt like to think about it either! It was a huge fucking trauma and the mental and physical health impacts have been disastrous for many ppl, including many children. And when people are in pain it is much easier to say āschool closures badā than to deal with the reality..

Today I wondered aloud whether matzo could go in the compost or had to be recycled, or if it actually just ends up in landfills even if you do put it in the recycling because itās the wrong kind of cardboard, like a pizza box

... and so while I too want more people to read my words (what writer doesn't?), and I also like to earn money to pay for stuff, I do not think my time and energy is best spent on the activities necessary to profit and grow, and I do not want to ask you to do so on my behalf for those reasons.

ps on 2, I don't mean to denigrate those who do need to get paid for their work and continue to grow their audience, etc. revenue and growth in newsletters are real things that enable important journalists and thinkers to continue to do the work they do. I do not consider myself one of them...
