I aspire to Neil Armstrong levels of cool headed under pressure: escape a near fatal crash then go back to the office to calmly write up the incident report! youtube.com/shorts/Wci--...

Fucking shameful United States. Shameful. You too Israel. Shameful.👇

He says what we've been shouting that MAGA just wouldn't hear but he says it in a way that some of them will hear. He's a rural farmer who speaks how they speak. @hcrichardson.bsky.social I posted 4 you to watch bec I think he's the missing link in our messaging. www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4CR...

National archives aren't just official documents. The notes politicians don't want you to see are in there, and since they're paid by tax dollars, we're allowed to look through those notes. The National Archivist is the safeguard against rewriting history. Firing the Archivist is frightening.

In which Pete Conrad helps explain the difference between attitude and altitude. youtube.com/shorts/KvI3M...

Only posted this one on IG but feels worth reposting here because I can't believe people are defending the Holocaust as "what was right for the country"!? www.instagram.com/p/DF-wGhCvPnQ/

BREAKING: In response to a lawsuit by Doctors of America, a federal judge ordered the Department of Health and Human Services to restore information on websites that the Trump admin had ordered agencies to remove. The webpages must be restored to their Jan. 30 state by midnight Tue, Feb 11.

Lyle's point of programs like this helping children become scientifically literate adults is why we should all care when educators are laid off.

The 1980 NASA transition team report highlighted the agency's importance saying that "the nation that is strong in science and technology has the foundation to be strong in all other areas and will be perceived as a world leader.” I can't imagine why that sentiment leapt out at me this morning.

A little fun on your timelines -- the Soviet Prop-M rovers! These tiny little guys were meant to scurry across Mars in 1971 but both missions failed. youtube.com/shorts/7j06z...

He's always been about bravado and ego. I've been iffy on SpaceX for years and Muskbros made me stop making content -- his cult is relentless in loving their leader. When SpaceX won a contract to build a lunar lander I thought, "great, he's going to say HE landed on the Moon." Always ego.

Trump and the GOP are in a full-out war against science. I have a lot to say about that. badastronomy.beehiiv.com/p/the-attack... 🧪 🔭

In which chickens are a casualty of Jackie Cochran learning to fly a jet. Also my roundabout way to remind you that national archives are a hugely important resource in storing our shared history. youtube.com/shorts/BVnbM...

As it happens, I'm reading a 1969 NASA report that highlights the value of people seeing people participating in space. They don't need to be astronauts. It's still humans behind robotic missions. Space is still a human endeavour. Stories like this are vital. ESPECIALLY for young girls.

Adding some fun engineering to break up the doomscroll: the Paresev! Milt Thompson, with some help from Neil Armstrong, built this because they were curious how the Gemini Rogallo wing would fly. youtube.com/shorts/uld_e...

A broad coalition of Jewish organizations is denouncing President Trump over moves on democracy, his "scapegoating" of immigrants and transgender people, and says his empowering of Elon Musk "to force ideological conformity" threatens the country's "democratic norms."

Reading Peanuts the other night, I learned about Vidkun Quisling, who was definitely someone you don't want to emulate... youtube.com/shorts/oHlYy...

Maybe someone with the means to do so should take out a full-page ad in as many newspapers as they can that just says “ELON MUSK HAS YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER”

One of the reasons I'm so drawn to history is you get to see a whole event play out, and it's often like a cheat sheet for the modern era. I really wish people didn't write history off as "boring" before even starting to dig into an event because it's almost like it's useful or something.

Imagine you're directing a mission to another planet and you're told to drop everything and reprioritize your day... www.404media.co/nasa-dei-dro...

No blast craters under the LM? I love this one because, to me at least, as soon as you start thinking about it logically it makes sense. youtube.com/shorts/C9Z9D...

Today’s show was my last at CNN. My closing message: It’s never a good time to bow down to a tyrant… don’t give in to the lies. Don’t give in to fear. Hold on to the truth… and hope.

Continuing to put education tidbits out there to break up the doomscrolling and maybe spread a little knowledge: why the Saturn V is black and white. youtube.com/shorts/Zg0Mc...

An old bioastronautics test shows what it looks like when you pull 49gs landing from space. Spoiler: it looks super painful! youtube.com/shorts/ETgLb...

Some fun science in your feed? Birds in zero G! This was part of a 1962 bioastronautics study and it's gotta be one of the weirder tests! youtube.com/shorts/ZrRC1...

FDR and the New Deal had a bigger impact on America than most people realize: it broke the Republican Party into two factions, and the Movement Conservatives spent 40 years trying to control the Party. They got it. And yes, I know the parties didn't literally flip. youtu.be/h3WTxZOJkDA

Not even two days. I'm already exhausted. I just want to do my little part, educating people one nugget of information at time. Maybe something will stick, maybe something will trigger that critical thinking muscle.

I don't usually post stuff from Instagram, but this had me cackling yesterday so I needed to share it! I tried Photoshop's AI feature to edit an image for a video. I did not for a second expect the result I got... www.instagram.com/reel/DE3b-YL...

Back with new shorts while I write longer videos! Today, I quickly explain how planes don't die when strike by lightning. Also please enjoy my wonderful animation skills. youtube.com/shorts/6zHTK...

Quick story time today: the time I met Dick Gordon and Al Bean and talked to them about sandwiches! youtube.com/shorts/Yg8G2...

I only recently learned -- like last week! -- that people believe the Van Allen belts are hot enough to melt spacecraft. So obviously I did a short trying to break down how that doesn't happen. youtube.com/shorts/cusoC...

Every once in a while a super irritating YouTube comment sparks a great teaching moment! youtube.com/shorts/vYrBz...

Everybody poops, even in space, where it's a lot more uncomfortable and, like it or not, social. youtube.com/shorts/zqnxy...

In honour of Apollo 8's splashdown anniversary, a quick Look at splashdowns gone wrong, aka that time I met Jim Lovell and he said Apollo was an (expletive) boat. youtube.com/shorts/4uJsX...

Apollo 8 and the Christmas lawsuit! In very brief: youtube.com/shorts/7YcrN...

Since I was travelling yesterday, a mini Apollo 8 thread! Up first, one of my favourite things I relearned while rereading the mission transcript: You can see urine dumps from the ground! youtube.com/shorts/QNq-m...
