Thank you! ☺️ I taught a shorter version of this years ago, and the feedback I got was that it could be much longer. I'm excited to dive into the four-week version.

“I don’t know about you, but I don’t think the United States Senate should vote for a single nominee that’s gonna participate in this fraud.” - Sen. @chrismurphyct.bsky.social That is exactly the kind of leadership we need in this moment of constitutional crisis. Thank you, Senator Murphy!

Sounds wonderful. My four-year-old loves mushrooms; anything with mushrooms is a gateway to try new foods.

Whoa, whoa, these both look perfect, but Secret History meets Shirley Jackson is a little too perfect for me.

Can you recommend novels featuring uncomfortable friendships?

No, Montage was there 😍 We did a wonderful joint fundraising event with them. They published a few of my short-short stories.

So it's possible your poem crossed my desk...? If it was submitted that year then held over for 2005? But I probably have the 2005 issue with your poem in it! With an interview with Paul Ford I did. Small world!

Yikes. Yeah, I agree. I saw some documentary a while back about school in Finland and homework just not existing there and how much better that is for learning...

I'm reading POETICS OF SPACE by Bachelard in preparation for my Architectural Stories workshop. I'm loving thinking about houses as spaces for daydreaming. Also reading THISTLEFOOT by GennaRose Nethercott & loving the perspective of Baba Yaga's house. #FridayReads

Ugh. Yes. My child is four and in daycare and already we've had to talk about how we can't come to every in-class party or field trip and yes, it's disappointing. I don't think my parents came to a single during-the-day event at school.

Love the cover! A pineapple with that title is tempting indeed.

I have heard of this, and the need to keep multiple tabs open for different summer camps for each week of the summer. When I was a kid you could just sign up for a month-long camp, but now it's all week-by-week? Sounds maddening.

The Dud Avocado by Elaine Dundy is fun. I'm listening to Hangsman by Shirley Jackson and it is wonderfully weird and fun.

Moving The Trees up in my queue! I loved Long Division, by Kiese Laymon, and the The Trees was recommended to me by a bookseller when I asked what else I could read like it.
