Building the indirect, circuitous bike link (Leaside-Danforth Ave Cycling Connections) has been hamstrung by endless public consultation. There are still ZERO safe route options for cycling, despite many schools nearby. Drivers have multiple routes, but their preference is always primary.

This is extremely boomer-core (non-derogatory)

These ideas are hard to communicate w/o sounding technical and academic. Your blog post does a wonderful job explaining in clear language, but our political leaders will need to craft messaging even more direct and simple if they want to sell congestion pricing.

$1,571,781 from the top ten goes to TPS employees. Even the TTC salaries on this list total less.

9.5% is a lot! Toronto’s road network has on-street cycling infrastructure on just 5.5% of its roads. And most of this reduces motor vehicle capacity very little, if at all.

There are 5x3 lanes of constant loud and smelly vehicle traffic here. Presumably more once dofo rips out the yonge bike lanes. Will people want to hang out beside that? Sounds terrible to me.

Hard agree. I have to assume our elected leaders are not relying on transit daily. If they were, I’m sure we'd see more urgency.

To me this seems like betting China poses less of a national security risk or that they will be a more stable longterm partner (than the US). It wasn’t that long ago we had a serious diplomatic crisis and our trade relationship was threatened.

I’ve been thinking about this and not really sure why moving away from US ties mean we should be justified in strengthening ties with China. China is still extremely hostile to our democratic values and the recent execution of an unspecified # of cdn citizens by their state should be a reminder.

You’re about to awaken the “operas are not musicals” debate, and I’m sorry but we can’t allow that to happen rn.

How can we reconcile moving away from companies we see increasingly tied to the destruction of democratic and human rights (tesla), but don’t hold Chinese companies to the same standard?
