I'm not even watching the Tony Awards tonight but I'm already tearing up just imagining what they're going to do to honor Gavin Creel 😭

Newest draft of BREAST IN SHOW is complete! Let this serve as a reminder that your script isn't "done" until it's onscreen lol

Feeling very cool that I can randomly message a former coworker on Instagram and he just oh so casually sends me back a video of him getting his Tin Man makeup applied backstage at WICKED on Broadway 💀

It feels very silly sometimes to celebrate my small screenwriting wins when everything around me on the large-scale is metaphorically on fire!!!

Just found out from my manager that a very cool production company is reading one of my scripts and aahhhhhhhh (this is a good scream)

Three cheers for this scared-o who just survived getting poked and prodded at the scary vet

Sometimes you’re feeling okay about a brand new script but then all it takes is one Reddit comment to make you wonder if not only your script is garbage but also somehow you’re a bad feminist for writing it???

Lol this is like Caligula getting into a fight with his horse

I never, ever want to hear again that women are too emotional to be leaders.

One of the most excruciating parts of having a new screenplay is wanting feedback approximately ten seconds after you type “Fade Out” Anyone with a new-ish rom-com/comedy/dramedy script around ~90 pages looking for a feedback swap?

Happy pride! 🌈

I did it! I did it! My rom-com is done (for now)!

I'm so close to finishing the second draft of this rom-com I can almost taste it. So obviously it's time to look at social media, right?!

To those of you here who might classify yourselves as "heavily tattooed" - how many tattoos did it take before you stopped getting them for the symbolism and started getting them for the aesthetic? Like, what number tattoo was your first "because I like it and that's it" tattoo? It was #6 for me!

I’ve got a crockpot of beef stew going and gluten-free banana muffins in the oven. It’s like a competition for “Best Smell” in this kitchen right now and I’m not sure who’s winning.

Anyone got any advice for general meetings? Wrong answers only please #scriptsky

Episode 39 of my podcast “The Writer’s Cut” is out today! Listen to us discuss ME AND THE COLONEL, winner of “Best Written Comedy” at the 11th WGA Awards!

Just a casual Monday night contemplating the inherent disconnect between the two art forms I flit between right now The permanence/legacy of film And The ephemerality of theater And how those inherent aspects inform the type of stories I want to tell in each format

Yuck 💜

Today’s vibes

Just finished watching SOME LIKE IT HOT for the first time ever for my podcast, and this is now an official Marilyn Monroe fan account just fyi

My husband is at a networking meetup thing and it feels similar to when my dog is at daycare, like "I hope he's having fun without me"

When I moved to Chicago 12 years ago, I worked in handbags at Macy's. One day a brand ambassador brought everyone free wallets, and I've been using it ever since. Unfortunately, 12 years later, it's on its way out. Heartbreaking to try to shop for exactly the same wallet over a decade later.

My time off from work has been approved, which means I get to go see my stage play performed in Salt Lake City in July!!!

Fresh ink! Flash by Sara Winter at Bone and Blossom Tattoo in Lombard, IL

Working on my first rom-com feature while my first horror feature is out for feedback from my writing group, and I gotta say-- I think I'm more naturally suited to the rom-com 😂

New tattoo tomorrow! That means no baths/soaking for a while, so today I indulged in a borderline-too-hot bath with a (surprisingly glittery) bath bomb and a pomegranate sparkling water and it was lovely

Sometimes I make me laugh 😂 From my latest work in progress, AFFORDABLE CARE: When a 26-year-old single woman finds a brain tumor right after being booted from her parents’ health insurance, she must find someone to marry - and fast - in order to get on their plan and afford to receive treatment.

When did you decide you wanted to pursue writing as a career path? I loved writing when I was very small and wrote stories up through high school, but fell off of the creative writing train in college. Didn't pick it back up until 2020. Decided to pursue it "for real" around 2021.

Feels good to revisit an old first draft of a script you want to fully overhaul and realize the first act is actually in pretty okay shape! Acts two and three, on the other hand...

Episode 38 of my screenwriting podcast "The Writer's Cut" is out today! Did we discover the platonic ideal of a well-structured screenplay? Listen to us discuss THE DEFIANT ONES and decide for yourself!

Fellow first-draft under-writers: what's the shortest first draft of a feature you've ever churned out? Asking on behalf of an embarrassingly short "feature" of which I just finished the initial "exploratory draft" (0th draft) lol.

Still gotta move all my stuff back in but: I love how the color turned out!!

When my road trip comedy feature BIG SKY COUNTRY makes it big and earns trillions of dollars, I’ll be ready with the sequel: BIG SKY COUNTRIES: THE EUROPEAN ADVENTURE (I’m like 99% joking about this btw)

New office calls for a new paint job

Time off between shows at work means writing whenever the heck I want and honestly it’s giving “quit-your-day-job”. I (probably) won’t any time soon but it sure is nice to dream!

It's a very strange feeling to watch a script you wrote not place in contests you submitted to awhile ago while currently getting some actual industry attention lol

Good vibes received!

Good vibes would be appreciated for one hour and fifteen minutes from now ✨

There's a hot dog festival near my neighborhood next week and I desperately want to go, but do you think the vendors would let me bring my own gluten-free buns?? BYOBuns???

We’re doing it again! A Chicago screenwriter meetup! Monday, June 16, 2025 6:30-9:30pm @ The Long Room (In their back room) 1612 W Irving Park Rd
