Happy International Sex Workers' Rights Day! Celebrate with me by donating to @thirdwavefund.bsky.social's Sex Workers Giving Circle: www.thirdwavefund.org/donate I am a recurring donor but these are wild times and we need to resource our people.

The former head of the Social Security Administration says he expects the agency to miss on some payments over the next three months, interrupting some people's benefits, for the first time in Social Security's history of eight decades: www.cnbc.com/2025/03/01/d...

rest easy babies. i live in these prints.

HEY EVERYONE REMEMBER WHEN TRUMP WAS IMPEACHED FOR DENYING AID TO UKRAINE BECAUSE HE WANTED ZELENSKY TO LIE AND SAY BAD THINGS ABOUT BIDEN AND ZELENKSY WOULDN’T DO IT? Maybe literally one fucking American newspapers could mention this in their, “think pieces,” about what happened yesterday.

I have so many thoughts on this: 1. I am curious how many folks on the left/middle now feel OK to say they are spiritual AND religious. 2. Wondering about the conservative targeting of boys/young men. 3. My controversial take is a decline in religious spaces has made us less tolerant.

It's wild to watch my mother who has been so large in my life in ways I won't get into now shrink away. Losing 50 pounds in less than 7 months amongst other loses is profound to witness.

too much diner coffee has me feeling like a conspiracy theorist connector of the more radical persuasion this morning a la john the baptist. like on 1000000

I legit want to cry at how sunny and spring-like it's been while being home. Chicago loves me, still!

watching folks toast their VIP/extravagant vacations and thanking God like they haven't read the Bible and what the Lorde does in terms of blessings. the prosperity gospel is so insidious.

Realizing I know hella Pisces. Celebrating three of them this week. And I mean I did marry one. I used to be so averse to them. That's growth.

Amen to this interview with Marshall Ganz. "Structural change is rooted in people, human beings, and the power we can create with each other when we find values we share, and our capacity to turn those values into sources of power."

Last week she was below zero and grey with a lot of snow. While I'm here she'll be 40-50 and dare I say it, even have a little sunshine. Thanks Chicago baby.

Is it blue? Is it grey? who the heck knows. all i know is it's an iconic color of my memory.

seeing Alabama Shakes in Alabama this summer >>>>

Cannot believe this image is 7 years old. These two changed my life and are a big reason why I now call the Southeast home. Thank you @aallyahpatrice.bsky.social and Kelsey (who I don't think is on here) for scheming with me in Indianola, Mississippi and beyond.

can we stop writing thought pieces about people and instead do the work with them, offer the how you did it so people can try themselves? I agree with the headline/subhead of this piece most of what's written is verbal vomit and missing the point/practical plot www.cjr.org/analysis/ame...

Part of the problem is that organizing is actually difficult. Many people don't want to do hard things.

A year ago I saw the best show of my life. Was randomly going to be home. The secret life of plants, indeed.

Happy birthday to the transformative publication, The TRiiBE! 8 years and here’s to infinity—join me as a monthly donor: thetriibe.com/product/resh...

Are you interested in local & state politics, criminal justice, and voting rights? Our team of journalists is reporting on who has the power to affect change and shape policy, from the local up. Be sure to follow us through our starter pack: bsky.app/starter-pack...

When people ask how those without access to systems of power might combat the rising fascist tide — think of graffiti. The radical orgs of the 70s knew this. It’s visible, it sticks in the mind, it establishes the presence of the speaker not as an individual but as a representative of the collective

will never give up knowing how to run in this kind of cold. may my bones and spirit push through because it's baked into them. this is like 9 years old. and i think it was like 1 degree, don't remember the feels like.

People who voted Trump who are feeling pissed off right now about broken promises are an organizing opportunity, not a gloating opportunity

from my trip to D.F. in 2013

People are put off by leftist culture and behaviors, not by the politics. I also think social media behavior amplifies certain behaviors over others— purity testing over collaboration, calling out vs in, etc — which aren’t “leftist” but general contemporary political engagement behaviors.

This came up during a panel of movement elders (72 yo and up) last month. Both how the internet and then the professionalization/isolation track (what universities have become) took the teeth out of the Left. Folks make the wrong sacrifices/risks for the sake of their ego.

I'm with Kelly here: deeply interested in leftism as a political project but have no interest whatsoever in leftism as a subculture. the stakes of leaving this behind are hopefully clearer by the day

Saw someone say, "End your friendships with people who are going about life like nothing is wrong." I will never understand people who think that further isolating ourselves from everyday people who don't get it is going to save us. It's not. Your judgment and disdain will not save us.

Don’t mess it up studs.

Sun Ra is always the best writing music to listen to.

got into the presale for Beyoncé tickets for the DC shows but I just cannot drop $900+ on a ticket.

This is part 2 of "This Month in Criminalization" by @dreanyc123.bsky.social - this edition focuses on the criminalization of trans people, gender-affirming care and Palestine solidarity. bit.ly/IC-TMIC2

tattoos and piercings are dangerous! was in the shower washing my face when the second skin wrap on my finger tattoos hooked onto my nose ring. getting it off was hilarious and could've gone so wrong. stay safe kids.

I went to look at a house this weekend just for fun/to get over a fear and all I kept thinking was if we have normalized understanding a leasing agent vs. a seller agent vs. a buyer agent and all the other nonsense that goes into buying a house we can get down with various expressions of gender.

The cost of police misconduct in Chicago is staggering, and seemingly never-ending for city taxpayers. Super smart story from @heathercherone.bsky.social of @wttw.bsky.social.

Doing ancestry work as part of my 12-step program. Can’t wait to dig deeper and see who was a labor organizer vs who was a mafioso from the Sicilian side.
