It's a myth that Nero fiddled while Rome burned. But he did use it to scapegoat a religious minority (Christians at the time) and rebuild his palace. But your point about trump stands, we suffer while he luxuriates. Conspiracy theories to follow soon.

I enjoyed the series too, without much familiarity of the show.

Yes, depending on what you're up for. Hannah Arendt was a brilliant scholar who gets referenced a lot in philosophy and history of authoritarianism. Greater Safety is an awesome, accurate historical fiction on the French revolution, depicts the difficulty and dangers of revolutionary movements.

I've loved everything with Dave McKean. Also From Hell by Alan Moore is one of the greatest.

Both are pretty dense and so a little bit of a slog but Greater Safety has a lot of witty dialog. Also an ominous foreboding since I know how it the revolution ends but at this point of the book everyone is still bright eyed.
