Has Timbaland been relevant since that Nelly Furtado song?

I think Nix's performance as a rookie greatly reduced (though not completely eliminated) the potential of him being an unplayable bust, which is a nice outcome from a rookie season. I don't know that it really did a lot to answer the question of whether he can be a championship-caliber QB, though.

I wonder how Josh Hawley will take that response. He strikes me as someone who really appreciates it when other people tell him he's wrong about an issue because he doesn't understand the details. Should go over great.

During one of the 2012 GOP debates, a reporter asked Ron Paul if someone who can’t afford health insurance should just be allowed to die, and someone in the audience shouted “Yes!” This was treated as a massive scandal and everyone on stage acted ashamed. These days it wouldn’t even be a story.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a lot of Democratic primaries won next year by candidates who are mostly middle-of-the-road ideologically, but run on youth, energy, anger and calls to throw Musk in prison.

Kind of surprised to see Davids there -- not that she isn't excellent, but I guess I figured the district had moved enough toward Dems that she wouldn't pop on a WAR score. Also surprised Golden isn't on the list.

I was getting pretty angry following the Chiefs-Panthers game on Gameday because, god, how are you getting shredded by *Bryce Young*? And then I saw the highlights and it was like...damn, those are some amazing throws.

Because the electoralist/popularist message is more like “These politicians need to punch you in the face, and you should accept that with silent joy and gratitude.”

If annoying progressives is an electoral benefit for red seat Dems — and it very well might be — then shouldn’t we encourage progressives to be loudly angry at them? Wouldn’t that be a beneficial component to the overall kayfabe?

There’s a profound unwillingness from mainstream media to cut public health workers any slack for the pandemic. It was a once-in-a-lifetime event, people were working 20 hours a day, data was imperfect. And every headline is “Public health workers were lying frauds and I loathe them.”

On the one hand, I know that's a typo. On the other hand, I can absolutely believe that Elon has literally zero buddies.

“Also, a lot of people on the left were telling me this guy was an asshole and I dismissed them out of hand. Anyway, I’m sure that will never be relevant again.”

Do you have a piece where you explain how you can estimate the makeup of the electorate?

I’ve often thought that was an issue with trying to tell people about the effects of unchecked climate change. You sound like a preacher on the street corner. “There will be fire and flood! Famine! War! Hurricanes will devastate our cities and disease will spread among the people!”

That guy hung out with Belushi and Ackroyd at some SNL afterparties.

I can imagine a scenario where a lot of Dem primaries are won by young, energetic candidates who actually run on pretty middle of the road policy platforms, but channel Democratic anger by campaigning on hanging Musk by his thumbs in the public square and impeaching Trump.

I suppose you can’t accuse this administration of Machiavellian subtlety.

He’s been in 57 percent of commercials aired since 2018 and he hasn’t gotten even a tiny bit better at acting. Respect.

You touch on it in this piece, but while we think of places like Iowa, Florida and Ohio as red (and they are), they’re not Wyoming or West Virginia. It would take a bank shot, but a good Dem candidate in a 2018-style environment could pull off an upset there.

Sasse also despised anyone young enough to go to college, so that was cool.

My loathing for Trump is fathomless, but you can't say you were lied to about the tariffs. He was really damn explicit about those. And if you thought these were going to be implemented in a more reasonable and professional manner, that's entirely on you too.

One of the core dynamics of the modern political press is a profound and credulous openness to any and all criticism from the right and a sneering hostility to any criticism from other directions.

One of the many advantages to drawing attention to Abrego Garcia is that it made the issue of “immigration” about lawlessness and scary totalitarianism, instead of letting it be about generic border security or illegal immigration, where Trump is/was strong.

Simmons is the guy I want. You're taking a big swing with the knee, but you don't often get a chance at left tackles with his talent level when you're drafting where the Chiefs always draft.

"Johnny FiveStar won three consecutive Heisman Trophies in college. He threw for 7,000 yards per season, never threw an interception and only took one sack when he allowed a Make-A-Wish kid to take him down on the first play of a game. His film was so terrible it gave me cancer."

Yep. Socialists might not like that commodities trader in Cobb County, Georgia making $250,000 a year who is disgusted by Trump and votes straight Dem as a result, but that guy is more fertile soul right now than your stereotypical Hard-Working Blue Collar Voter.
