France finally acknowledged the debt they owe Haiti. This is just the beginning of something. I'm gonna republish the feed. This is important. www.nbcnews.com/news/world/f...

If you were at this battle, I want to talk to you for an upcoming piece! DMs are open!

It’s a common misconception that ADHD is just an inability to focus. Really, it’s a struggle to control focus. I can hyperfixate for hours on complex but pointless tasks and freeze on simple tasks. Some days, my brain’s a Lamborghini with no brakes. Other days, a rusty bike with a stuck chain.

andy is one of the only dudes who understands How My Brain Works when it comes to getting interested in games, and in many way is even more of a sicko than i am

This week classic mmo Urban Dead was shut down after almost 20 years. So I'm sharing a chapter of my book-in-progress about the zombie siege that sparked the most important moment in its history. empiresofeve.substack.com/p/special-th...

Here's what I captured of the Lunar Eclipse. Lessons learned with the new telescope. ie. Don't use autoexposure lol. Still not too bad after some cleanup and clouds that rolled by during totality. (Don't worry about my RL name, it's already out there ;) ) youtube.com/shorts/gEb2B...

This is so beautiful

We have to face facts: WW2 combat flight sims disappeared from the mainstream and fascism began making a return. Indeed they were replaced by their Wario / Scratch: the live service combat arcade game, where military hardware was stripped of context and rendered morally neutral and brand safe.

An Ashcan release of Realis, the TTRPG that I've been working on (and off and on) for the last four years is now available for preorder! thecalcutec.itch.io/realis

"If game designers are to have any success combating toxicity, we must acknowledge that our own design choices are often the underlying systemic cause. And that it is our responsibility to change them." Read the Featured Blog by Rhys Frampton #GDBestof2024

Nearly 40 hours in to STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, it's clear that all they needed was a little more time.

I keep accidentally logging into twitter, feeling terrible, and then realizing it's because I'm not here.

If you too have been under a cloud for a month, I've been listening to the extremely rad Hulder which is led by a tiny blonde lady who sounds like a demon. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bajK...

After ten years in the Pacific Northwest I now finally understand that the key to thriving in the northwest winter is death metal.

I've dreamed my entire career of writing an article like this. New in today's @nytimes.com: My profile of Tetris creator (and Seattle-area resident) Alexey Pajitnov, on the games, attempts, and failures he's worked on in the 40-year shadow of his most famous game. (Upshot: He's still designing.)

I do find myself wondering whether the positivity in bsky can withstand full-scale migration from Twitter. At a certain point the old social hierarchy is simply transposed onto the new space.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but you don’t need to justify your post. It isn’t taking up space. The space is infinite. Your post belongs.

The best thing I've done for my mental health in years has been to start spending two hours a day working from my local library. Those places have healing energy.

So like…we’re calling them tweets, right?

My current career goal is to be able to afford a cat again after my lady was called home by the clear ringing of silver trumpets

A cool and also bad fact of my career is that book publishers have never seen value in my writing and have passed on all my books. Everything I’ve ever accomplished has been because of community support. 30,000 sales later Empires of EVE proved the publishers wrong.

When I find a video game that is more interesting to write about than EVE Online then I will write about that one. Until then I’m working to turn this space opera into a trilogy.

Hey I’m Andy and I write about the history of EVE Online because it’s interesting.

Anybody who loves mmos recognizes the special energy in this space right now.
