FWIW, that TLC car has illegal bull bars as well.

This is super interesting - I didn't know this, but it reminds me of Orson Welles' The Trial, which starts with basically this. It's just a skilled narrator talking over projected hand-drawn slides, but it's really effective!

Increasingly, they do accept credit/debit. In NYC, you can just tap your credit card or use Google / Apply Pay, etc.

Do you even need to use an editor though? Aider is good for this and it’s just on the command line. I think you can use Claude Code like that as well. Vibe coding is the death of the editor (for some tasks).

Gefilte Fish is due for an artisanal resurgence. It had to be good at some point!

It's interesting and mostly great, but the same narrow streets are why parking on the sidewalk is pretty common (and very annoying).

I agree that robots of radically different form factor would be more interesting and better. I'm no expert, but I'd guess that making robots humanoid is probably because our environments are built for that exact form factor.

The similar improvements they've done south of this are a real joy to bike on. This is great news, thanks for sharing it!

I'm impressed. After she put congestion pricing on delay, I vowed to never vote for her again. Not caving on this may just be enough for me to forgive her. Maybe. I'm still thinking about it.

I wish there was a way to share a whole podcast so I don't have to keep posting interesting episodes, but we haven't implemented it yet. If the app is a success, I'm sure this will come soon.

Episode 2 of "Brad Boy: The Brad Lander" podcast just dropped! app.continua.ai/play?sharing.... This is coming out every day, your daily dose of @bradlander.bsky.social news (but currently I have to share each podcast episode).

It is the NY Times, it covers NYC explicitly as part of its mission. Many people read/follow it to keep up with local news / food or theater reviews / etc. Perhaps they could or should separate out local vs non-local news, but the same can be said of any account; there's always slicing possible.

It's perfectly fine to have non-political reporting. Good, even. I don't want all content to be about Trump, do you?

Today I made a podcast about @bradlander.bsky.social's mayoral run, and it does a remarkably good job about talking about the issues: app.continua.ai/play?sharing.... I hope he can get to be the mayor, I won't forget how he helped Congestion Pricing; he may have to do the same thing again!

I was going to remark how they got the boot color right, but, looking closer, those are sandals!

Oh I was just on the M103 and that must be why it was so incredibly crowded! I didn't remember that they are normally articulated.

The fact that justice takes so long is disheartening. My 311 complaints are being scheduled for hearings in more than a year. And then they can reschedule it to ask for more time after that!

Keeping unpopular things the president does in the news for longer is a good thing.

That's horrifying! I hope the NYDOT does fix it. I think you can file a request for them and include a link to the video, and it would be well worth it.

What does “money grab” even mean, really?

Anyone planning a congestion pricing party? It’s been such a fight, to not celebrate would be a real loss

Defends what? Using ChatGPT to give statistical answers? I agree, hard to defend. If you turn on search you should at least get real numbers but still it’s not great.

Yeah what’s with the lack of any lighting here?

Last Train To San Fernando should be One of Many Trains Going To San Fernando at Regular Intervals, Forever.

Oh, that guy. He’s been disruptive at several of our Broadway Linear Park events. But I enjoyed his thinking that we had the DOT wrapped around our finger, and that I was a “dangerous menace”. Nothing like a hater to make you feel important and exciting!

If you go to app.continua.ai you should be able to build that podcast by feeding it the url for the emacs archives. It should be easy!

It seems like McGuinness is still moving, really. I’m sure the Keep McGuinness Moving group is appreciating this outcome.

This must the WIlliamsburg location. I go by the West Village one regularly and haven't seen any bus there.
