Landlords make sense here, but what are developers afraid of? The rent freeze is only on stabilized apartments which were all build decades ago and Mamdani wants to build a lot of new housing

I'm not sure this nickname will have the impact they think it will

shot, chaser

I see the Washington Post editorial board has decided to make an exception to Bezos's "only write about personal liberties and free markets" rule.

For those waiting for this — Jessica Ramos is pulling 0.4% of the vote.

"But one thing is clear: Together, we are sending Andrew Cuomo back to the suburbs." —Brad Lander, just now.

This guy’s been on an all-time run the last few weeks.

Cuomo statement on Iran strike seems to suggest he supports striking Iran’s nuclear facilities but doesn’t like that Trump didn’t ask Congress first

Steny Hoyer says Trump’s Iran strike was “necessary.” His statement is definitely at odds with the prevailing sentiment in his party.

This is by no means an important thing to focus on with the nation on the brink of war, but I am a little taken aback by the Thomas Massie glow up

JD Vance: Donald Trump is smarter than all the presidents of the last 25 years, one of whom was also Donald Trump.

The funny thing about this apnews.com/article/trum...

Mamdani: If elected mayor I'm going to build city-run grocery stores. Catsimatidis: I'd like to see you try, especially after I voluntarily surrender my city-wide network of commercial grocery store leases ... oh wait.

I’m not saying the New York Times should pick an endorsement policy and stick with it, but it definitely shouldn’t NOT stick with it and also there are only two options …

One of the things I can’t stop thinking about is how this country is facing a nationwide housing shortage and the president—who spent his entire pre-political career promoting himself as a real-estate tycoon—has shown zero public interest in building new housing

Mamdani is now ahead of Cuomo with just two weeks until the Democratic NYC mayoral primary, a new poll found.

Eric Adams posted a minute-by-minute video of his "morning" routine, but the clock in the background is telling on him.

RELEASE: Jon Schleuss, president of The NewsGuild-CWA, sounds the alarm on police violence against reporters during the LA protests. “We demand that every law enforcement agency open investigations into any officer violating the rights of journalists doing their jobs.” Journalism is NOT a crime.

Happy 3-month anniversary to the 1-month pause on Canada/Mexico tariffs to all who celebrate

Ramos getting the WFP treatment

Andrew Cuomo tells the debate audience he would have voted for Eric Adams if he lived in the city in 2021 ...

So in the past few months the Washington Post has: -announced it’s limiting op-eds to just “personal liberties and free markets” -laid off roughly 100 staffers -pivoted back to broader op-eds but now submitted for free from amateurs who use the Post’s AI tool

Researching something about the Fair Housing Act of 1968 and clicked on a HUD link without thinking. Silly me! The info is gone and has been replaced with this:

It has been kind of surreal to watch my hometown's resident right-wing pastor rise to national prominence like this ...

Update: This happened last night—Senate Republicans went nuclear, overruling the parliamentarian and blowing up the filibuster to repeal California's vehicle emissions standards. Many Republicans will likely cite this precedent as reason to bypass the filibuster to pass the reconciliation bill too.

Russ Vought says that Trump has the power to fire hundreds of thousands of civil servants. As a political appointee, he said Biden lacked the authority to fire him

Does this mean the dormant HBO Max app on my phone will be re-activated? How long until I can use the one they called “HBO GO” again? press.wbd.com/us/media-rel...

I’m not defending any strategy here, but people seem to think Ewing’s victory and this ad are an indictment of moderate “trans rights are a distraction” messaging. In reality that is both the message of this ad and the dodge Ewing used anytime a reporter actually tried to get him on record about it.

You can't make this up. ICE left a 12-year-old completely abandoned on the street after abducting the adult he was with. www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/...

Every time someone even comes close to answering this question it's always something like "stop using pronouns and Latinx" which no Democrat running for national office actually did in the last election.

Tucked in the House Republican proposal to cut Medicaid is a specific provision designed to punish states that provide any medical coverage for undocumented people

Ah yes, squares. That famously American shape

I’m not sure Rome is prepared for this

We went to Versailles. They wouldn’t show us the guillotines but we still had a good time.

I only just now realized that the House and Senate stablecoin crypto bills are called the STABLE Act and the GENIUS Act … as in “a very stable genius”
