Here's an alarming view of the state of British Army equipment. I have this worrying notion that the reason we didn't send any Warrior IFVs to Ukraine is that we don't have any functional Warriors. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...

Intel Source, on the Trump firing of JAG chiefs/JCOS: "You've been looking for the coup? Here's the coup." The road to deploy US troops on American soil is now a highway. Gnight everybody. Hug your kids tight

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

I appreciate this from Denyer, but has any Green leader acknowledged that stopping and deterring Russian aggression requires hard power? That the state needs to buy arms and expand production capacity, both to supply Ukraine, and to improve our own defences?

Ukraine Fact Sheet - February 21, 2025: isw.pub/UkraineFacts...

It's unreal that the Conservatives think culture war is the threat, not the actual war against Russia all of Europe (w/o USA) will be in if Trump can force Ukraine to capitulate. A traditional Tory would be campaigning on rebuilding the Army and military industrial capacity.

Can confirm this is happening. Free speech absolutism strikes again.

Have googled, this is a real post from Yarvin's substack, with alt text: Give Russia free reign in Europe, up to the Channel, to destroy liberalism.

Extraordinary story the Wall Street Journal. X is threatening advertisers that if they don’t spend more, Elon Musk will use his influence in government to block company mergers. That’s extortion.

Any media with algorithmic recommendation/promotion is editorialising. They're not merely neutral publishing platforms or "town squares". They are responsible for what they promote. So let's see those algorithms. Let's regulate them like we regulate legacy media. If they don't like it, ban 'em.

Europe’s emergency is Keir Starmer’s salvation: If peacekeeping Ukraine requires British re-armament, it could also break through the political consensus binding Labour. 🖊️ @philtinline.bsky.social

This is all a bit unreal, as there is basically zero chance that Putin and Trump will negotiate any "peace" deal better than Ukrainian capitulation.

Trump could have pushed for an end to the war in Ukraine without becoming actively hostile to Ukraine. Instead, he has imbibed Putin’s lies. Have written about the emergence of a new US/Russia axis, where it comes from and the staggering implications for Europe. open.substack.com/pub/goodalla...

This is an exceptional analysis piece by @gideonrachman.bsky.social on the implications of the Trump Administration's stance towards Europe for Europe I want to say it's highly provocative, but I fear it's the basecase. A rupture and realignment, unfolding before us www.ft.com/content/11f1...

Trump demanded European NATO spend 5% of GDP on defence. US spends 3.5%, and it would appear plans to cut that to 2.3% over 5 years.
