Interrogate who is telling you that creatives don't need collective bargaining because they're already SO RICH and lucky to be working in the arts at all. Fight for the continued existence of Unions so they'll be there to protect you when you're in a position to join.

as ever, if you ask people if they think art should exist for their enjoyment they will say yes, and then if you ask them if the people making the art should get paid for it they'll tell you "no that's a fake job"

I quietly mumbled "thank you" to Jason Isaacs for keeping the door propped open for a moment when I walked into a burrito place just after him

One thing missing in a lot of talk about the shittiness of AI is how it's an element of a much larger issue created by the neoliberal hellscape that most of us live in. Ed captures this really well in these podcasts. Highly recommended listening.

Could really do with some - and I know this is unreasonable - good news today

"They didn't realize they were tackling a Senator for asking questions, they thought they were tackling a journalist for asking questions" oh, ok then

My partner @toxiquefilmbro.bsky.social ran a stall at a job fair yesterday, getting students to pitch movie ideas and win prizes. They got a ton of beautiful, weird, personal, insane teenager-brain ideas…and also some ChatGPT cheating. The kids are (mostly) alright, but boy do I feel for teachers

As much as MOUNTAINHEAD isn't particularly sophisticated or original in its satire in this regard...it's not, like, wrong, either

Obsessed with the High Protocol Belt

"I never thought we would actually break things," says industry living by the credo "move fast and break things"

Well, this is good.

Star Trek TNG, S5E2: The Tamarians establish first contact with the Federation by inviting Picard onto a wilderness retreat to share their dankest memes 10/10 arguably the best Star Trek story about first contact

For months, we have called on the studios to take action against #AI companies that built their models on mass theft of copyrighted works. We’re pleased to see Disney and Universal finally come off of the sidelines, and urge others to follow suit. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/11/b...

I’ve never forgotten this picture from 2016 and how it completely reshaped my understanding of how the media covers protests.

Every live action remake of an animated film should follow all the rules of Dogme 95

Deep Blue is 30 years old and was capable of defeating chess grand champions. It could be housed in a single cabinet. ChatGPT spans untold data centers devouring massive amounts of electricity and it got its ass whipped by an 8 bit gaming console from the 1970s.

Once this movie is made I am gonna be HANKERING to answer questions about the sex scene in it in Q&As because BOY is there a dumb story to be told

If I were a conspiratorial type, I'd say that this parade was being set up with the express intention of violently putting down the protests that will inevitably take place (which would also give the admin a pretext for further violence against the people)

Holy shit Umbrella is restoring THE ASTROLOGER 🌟👎🕳️👍

Given that Marco Rubio is condemning NZ's decision to sanction Israeli ministers, and demanding we change our stance, perhaps we need to seriously reconsider military entanglement with the US. They're actively attempting to undermine our sovereignty in regards to foreign policy

I know AGI is real because Meta is spending countless billions of dollars on it, and famously everything Meta spends countless billions of dollars on always comes to fruition

"Oh gosh we humans are just far too dumb to figure out why we have all these big environmental and social problems, if only people would give us more money and power we could build a really really smart computer that would magically solve all of these problems for us"

"Liquid Glass," eh Apple? Bullshit, I know OG Aqua when I see it

Despite her cheerful, open smile and guileless expression, Kelsey Dacey, 32, constantly daydreams about Satanic rituals, mutual masturbation and dragging her boss down a dark well by the ponytail.

Finally caught up with TALK TO ME, and yeah, that is a really fucking well-made motion picture

Good fucking Christ this was all such a goddamned stupid exercise

Pure fantasy. Train 7.5m workers to do actual jobs we know we will need by 2030. There are a lot of them.

You'd think a publication based in New York, possibly the most loudly neighbourhood-oriented city in the world, would grasp this

So funny how you're made to feel like you're insane for being against genocide/apartheid and being against the use of a chatbot that kills your creativity and critical thinking while killing the planet in the process

I’m late to this interview with Tony Gilroy but I think his answer, about why most art is progressive, hits the nail on the head. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/05/o...

driver: san francisco is so fun. and hilariously has the glowing red "you haven't unlocked this part of the map yet" wall factor into the story at least once lmao
