Turn to page 175.

Younger me was dismissive of the Beach Boys, especially shallow, saccharine pop like California Girls, then, spending the 90s skateboarding and listening to 3rd wave punk, I heard their DNA across everything. Best performance by a Beach Boy is still Two Lane Blacktop though.

Having a writing day where you look back at past work to motivate yourself, but think 'oh, this is really good, I don't recognize that writer and could never repeat it.' Don't worry, ego will get me through in a moment. Lol.

Watched a talk where Robert Kurvitz (Disco Elysium) commented on the importance of friends/allies in creativity, and how people also have their problems: "In this world you can either be alone, or forgiving." Also made me think of how many people breakdown completely at 99% of what they want.

Hello, today is my Birthday! ✨And the best gift for an artist is a retweet of his artworks 🍃🌿

Gen X on this planet for just over 50 years now, still get euphoric pleasure from a correctly timed, and well deserved cup of tea.

Let's keep this place growing as a way to build for writers and readers. Quote or reply with your own intro - have your links in your bio and your latest work as your pinned post. #writing #sff #booksky 📚💙

Great times that were also nuts looking back.

WarnerDiscovery to split into two companies. I just looked at how they will split, and lol, it's basically splitting into Warner Bros. and Discovery. Ever since Zaslav took over its just an endless carousel of book fudging and rebranding. Gotta do something to make line go up.

The Articy Draft X official tutorials and guides are not good, can anyone out there doing IF recommend any others? I have experience in platforms like Twine and Inform, and that area of code, so it needn't be total baby steps.

If you think our govs will finally act if 'one of our own' is harmed, then remember the outrage and response generated by the USA when Rachel Corrie (white/middle-class/college grad) was murdered by the IDF. I'll give you a minute.

I get the same info on Bsky now as I did on Twitter, the main difference being that here I can cut out trolls. If you are seeing articles claiming it is failing because 'the Right' can't access you, then it's actually working not failing. Don't comply in advance.

Bemused by some lukewarm reviews of Mountainhead (2025), in the couple of days since I saw it, the areas/people it is about have unfolded as if they are copying it. It's so on the money.

One aspect of my newest fantasy Aertelis is the character Keita Jo, an educated rogue from an alt-Mali Empire. While the others feel caught up in the pull of high civilization, in The Realm, Jo has a flipped POV, where he is away from civilization, adventuring in wilder lands.

If anyone surfs into to my pinned post or bio, likes the look of my new book, but is going through it rn, follow the bio links to my site and contact via mail for a free epub version. All I'd ask in return is a socials post or something.

I think in this climate of endless consumerist IP exploitation, and the corresponding fan culture, the wiki-fication of everything, any storyteller who leaves space for the reader, for the imagination, who leaves a question unanswered, will seem revolutionary.

Philip K Dick correctly predicted how annoying the future would be, and I think it’s because he was a Bay Area guy

Cyberpunk action, it's free, and you'll be supporting independent books, what's not to like?

While all the news stuff is taking over, let's remember we're here to build and boost writers and art, and Marty is a good member of this community: here's a book

We are in the dumbest fucking timeline

Mountainhead (2025) already a documentary.

doing art for the sake of doing art is good for the soul and you should be doing it regardless of how much practice you've put in

Got around to the animated masterpiece Flow (2024). A work of humanist beauty that does not feature a single human.
