Windy day at ocean terminal today

"I helped record air-pollution levels by riding my bike – the results were surprising" www.bikeradar.com/features/lon... Rob Ainsley joins a pioneering project using cycling citizen scientists to find out how dangerous the air we're breathing is

I’m absolutely delighted the Leith Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN) has been made permanent today. This is the right decision for Leith, and will help to lock in the traffic reductions, safer streets and cleaner air that this scheme has already delivered.

Join us this Saturday for a ride around Marchmont! Meet 2pm Middle Meadow Walk.

Leith Connections - one of the “best changes in Leith for a while” says Rachael Revesz Chair of Liveable Leith The Traffic Regulation orders Sub Committee will consider making all remaining parts permanent when it meets on Tuesday

24 HOURS TO SAVE THE LEITH LTN This time tomorrow the council's TRO sub-committee will meet to decide the future of the Leith LTN. If you don't want to lose the safer streets, please contact your councillors now to tell them how much it means to you. rd8993.wixsite.com/liveable-leith

On Tuesday, a council committee will decide the future of the Leith Liveable Neighbourhood. Meet Critical Mass at the City Chambers at 8.30am to support the LTN! Bring signs and banners to show your support!

Big decision this week affecting #Leith. I hope councillors chose 'mini Copenhagen' for safer streets for everyone. www.heraldscotland.com/news/2493771...

A representative, professionally conducted survey, commissioned by the city council & carried out to MRS standards, showed 76% in favour of the LTN. A handful of anecdotes & a biased community council survey do not evidence make www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/leith-l...

If you live in, work in or visit the Leith LTN you may want to review the below....

#EfES thought for today...💭 According to the Royal Met Soc school leavers survey in 2024 'What reduces greenhouse gas emissions more?' 57% of 16 year olds said 'Recycling' compared to 15% saying a 'Plant-based diet'. Actually eating a plant-based diet has ~4x the impact. We need #ClimateInEducation.

Only 9% of global plastic waste is recycled. UK sends 2/3rds of its waste overseas where much is illegally dumped. Over 16,000 chemicals used in plastic. Over 4,000 are toxic, lots still untested. www.oecd.org/en/about/new... www.bbc.co.uk/news/science... www.greenpeace.org.uk/wp-content/u...

SAVE THE LEITH #LTN Those who oppose safer streets are urging council to reverse safer streets introduced thru the #Leith low traffic neighbourhood (LTN). PLEASE don't let them win. Please take 5 mins to email your councillors & urge them to save the Leith LTN: rd8993.wixsite.com/liveable-leith

Lots of new bike infrastructure to celebrate! Hear how new bike lanes have improved local residents' lives!

Well it wouldn’t be another day on Scotland’s roads without drivers killing 3 more vulnerable pedestrians. 😢 Eh, @policescotland.bsky.social @fionahyslop.bsky.social @johnswinney.bsky.social at what point do we need to declare a national emergency? What are we going to change?

Very appropriate for @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social @stephenjenkinson.bsky.social

Low emissions zones work! And they save taxpayers’ money

🚨 REMINDER 🚨 If you haven’t yet urged your councillors to make the #Leith #LTN permanent, you have another 10 days to do so. More info and how to take action on the Liveable Leith website: rd8993.wixsite.com/liveable-leith

🚨 Very important to write to the TRO committee (see link) on this one. Remind them of the multiple benefits of LTNs and to show forward-thinking & leadership. If you visit or live in Leith give anecdotes on how the LTN benefits you

The fossil fuel industry is responsible for creating & heavily promoting plastics as well as cars == tyre use. Now microplastics are in human blood, semen, breast milk, brains, livers and bone marrow, indicating profuse contamination of people’s bodies www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Find another route for the tram, find another route for the walking but please don't suggest a "BRT" is a substitute. www.heraldscotland.com/news/2489868...

So the first year of Wales 20mph default limit saw 26% fewer casualties on the countries roads. That's an amazing drop and a lot less stress on the emergency services and NHS. Can we have this in England too now? the evidence is clear that it saves lives. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
